i5 2500K - 4.5 Ghz @ 1.264v w/ CM Hyper 212+

Thread Starter
I'm thinking about selling my Sig Rig and I'm wondering if the CPU would be more valuable if sold on its own? I'm new to OC'ing but I'm quite positive that's a great OC since most of the 4.5's I've seen were 1.3v+.

This was done w/ the Auto Voltage feature on my ASRock board so it might even be able to go lower in voltage. I tested it for 20 mins w/ Prime95 and while it stayed right around 60c, I didn't want to risk anything if there was no point in doing so.

What would you guys value this at?

Here is a Screenie to prove the numbers:

Thanks for your help!

Thats fairly common SB voltage (most will do in the 4.5 range w/ close to stock voltage) - I would recommend when stability testing doing at minimum of 12 hours Prime as 20 minutes doesn't really have time to test much of anything.

The real selling point isn't going to be voltage, its going to be max multi - set your voltage at 1.55v and see how high of a multi it will boot into windows at - unless it does much more than 50 - 52X you're looking ~ $180, if it will do 54X + then you can get $200, 57X + and you can basically ask what you want smile.gif

That's fine, I'll let it run until tomorrow, no worries. As I said, I'm not an overclocker. This is a new area for me.

My point is what would be the value if it runs 10+ hours stable? If it's only going to be a $15-$20 difference, it can go with the rest of the Rig.

EDIT:

@ appleg

Thank You, that's the info I was looking for.

That's hardly worth the effort so it can just go with the Rig. Thanks!

4.5 @ 1.26 will get you nothing, no matter how stable or cool. To add value, you have to push further.
Try running it at 5Ghz. My 2500K does 1.2v at 4.5 and then had to go over 1.45 just to boot at 5Ghz.

Here is 5Ghz. I think I stressed it for around 10 mins.

I honestly don't want to push it any further w/o better cooling.

Don't worry about your cooling if you're only going to be doing it for a few minutes. Like appleg33k85 said, even being able to boot into Windows will be enough.

$190 if it does 5.0ghz stable.
$200 if it will do 5.2-5.4.
Anything higher and you can ask for $250 and youd sell it.\
