H100 Fan Quest

Thread Starter
I have done a lot of reading and research on fans here and on many other sites, and I have some questions. I currently have a H100 in my Corsair 650D case, setup to push with the two fans. My temps are bouncing around 26-30 C, on idle. This is fine, but I would like to change the following to suit my blue-black theme and get less noise if possible:

Back exhaust fan - Corsair 120MM
Change fans on H100 CORSAIR 120mm Rad to push-pull config
Thinking on changing the front intake which is a Corsair 200X20MM.

So, I see so many threads on questions about fans and so many different choices. Some are rather old, some new, and some things have changed since then, such as models, brands. I want a good mix of performance and dBA. in my readings on OCN I see that CFM is not the most important, it seems to be static pressure.

I have already tried the CoolerMaster Blue LED fans, and some very strange results, I have them both plugged into the H100 pump controller. One spins just fine, the right side turns on and off, and I saw smoke from the fan! My first instinct was SHUT THAT MOFO DOWN!

The fans I would like either blue, or blue LED. The blue fans (fins) would be fine all around, LED not really important. I want performance and function over looks or gimmicks. If it's not possible with blue, black suggestions are welcome.

My questions:

  1. What fans would be best to use for a good mix of static pressure, speed and dB?
  2. Should I keep the front intake Corsair fan, or what would be better in that size? (200X20mm)

Looking at these for the exhaust and push-pull:

Sharks Thoughts? Suggestions are welcome.

I've got nf-p12s which are expensive but Akasa apache fans are similar in performance for half the cost.
I've also read about ap-15s and cougar vortex fans.

Hi
1_i advice you to look at THIS , it may help (BTW you can always paint the fans)
2_I'm not sure for the 200mm , there aren't any comparison , i would suggest checking the megaflow out (exists in blue too)

I was looking over the spreadsheet earlier, thanks for the linky.

On the 200mm fan, it would have to be 200X20m, 30 is too wide. It prohibits my drive tray from sliding in...sucks because I liked that fan. mad.gif

I am currently using the AP-15s and they have the perfect blend of performance and noise. They are just hard to find or expensive redface.gif

As for a 200x20mm, I don't have a suggestion. Bitfenix makes a 200x25mm blue led Spectre Pro.

In a 650D, Spectre Pro 200mm (25mm thick) does fit with the cages still intact. 30mm does not unless you remove the hard drive cages.

OK, this looks to a viable option. Pretty good specs on it and lower dBA than my stock intake fan. To make it uniform, I could go with Bit Fenix all the way around with the 120mm Bit Fenix Pro's.

I see differences with these fans, should I be concerned about the lower RPM/CFM on the Bit Fenix Pro 120's:

Bit Fenix:
Dimensions (mm): 120x120x25mm
Current (A): 0.18A ±10%
Speed (RPM): 1200 RPM ±10%
Air Flow (CFM): 56.22 CFM ±10%
Air Pressure (mmH2O): 1.24 mmH2O
Noise (dB-A): 18.9 dB(A)

Corsair 120MM: (Stock Fans)
Fan dimensions: 120mm x 120mm x 25mm
Fan speed: 1300 - 2600RPM
Fan airflow: 46 - 92 CFM
Fan dBA: 22 - 39 dBA
Air Pressure: ???? - I saw the A70 fans and spec was: 1.8 - 2.3 mm H20?

AeroCool Sharks:
1500 RPM ±10%
82.6 CMF
26.5 dBA
Air Pressure : 1.273 mm-H2O

After I make a choice on the fans, would it still be advisable to still go with a push-pull (4 fans) on my H100 or just go with 2 fans for just a push, and replace the exhaust fan?

Cougar fans are the way to go, They are dead freaking silent.

You wont be sad at all with them IMO since I know people who have made the switch and are loving it.
