Good 8 dimm board for the i7 3930K?

Thread Starter
Hi there guys,

Got me an i7 3930K and with it (Rushing) I got an MSI board: X79a G45. and I'm not very impressed with it. I'm a bit annoyed by this choice, and seeing that it has some defects I'm going to RMA it ( I will open a thread for the board itself seeking help until I find good replacement)

Would you guys please advice, which would be a stable choice for me to get? I'm only interested in OCing it to ~ 4.5 Ghz, I use Corsair H100 (fan controller is a piece of crap imo) and 8DIMMS HyperX DDR3 1600 / 32Gb.

What can you guys recommend that can take this cpu to 4.5 fairly easy and doesn't shut down or does weird stuff randomly?

Thanks,

I second that, solid board, hefty price and an awesome UEFI/BIOS for any overclocker's dream. biggrin.gif

It's very expensive, but the RIVE is a very nice board for overclocking. I have no doubt the Sabertooth and P9X79 Pro could do the trick as well, for a lower price.

I just picked up one of these:

Very solid board if you are on a budget.
