I would love to see how core temps compare with cpu cooler temps between IB and SB. Stick a temperature probe on some arbitrary point on the cooler and burn em both down. Not the best comparison to make given the different TDP's, but I know I'd like to see it anyway.

To clear up all the speculation in a single post. All this "zomg temperature!!!" posts flooding the net is only for high clocks. Ivy should do 4.5-4.8Ghz on air, while remaining below 75C. Which is perfectly acceptable temperatures for its 105C thermal design. The problem with Ivy is reaching the 5.0Ghz+ mark that people expected from a lower powered chip, when you jump the volts up to get there stable you are already breaking 80C even with the best air cooling units. Meanwhile people have been coming up with theory's of the issue, such as this thermal compound thread. I for one believe the problem lies within the die itself (ie cram packed cores). I wouldn't be shocked if on release day you see a dozen threads of people happily sitting at 4.5Ghz, on their 3570k, with their NH-D14/SilverArrow. I for one am disappointed that Ivy will not break the 5Ghz barrier for most typical air overclocks. Still it beats out Sandy and if a 3770k @ 4.8Ghz can crush a 2600k @ 5.0Ghz then I think its still a improvement.
