Thanks for all the advice guys. +Rep (at a later point in time today when I don't have homework that I forgot I need to do redface.gif).

Assuming I actually know the tax where I live (which I probably don't anymore), it'll be just under $260 out the door with tax for the 960T, the UD3, and 8GB of Samsung RAM. biggrin.gif I'm thinking that's a pretty nice deal, especially for the impatient child inside me. wink.gifthumb.gif

Agree on the 960T if you're not going to really push the overclock. No Bulldozer is competitive unless you push it to about 4.5 GHz. The 960T is a cut-down Thuban core and often makes it to 4 GHz with no hassle whatsoever if you leave it as a quad. Just change the multiplier and forget about it.

^not 100% correct^

even with both procs at stock, no phenom can beat an 8 core bulldozer at encoding, compressing, megatasking and other highly threaded light on the fpu programes. however, if you will not be doing enough of that to make up for the higher cost and slower clock-for clock then the 960t is what u want.

Well seeing as how I won't be using the computer roughly 8 months out of the year, heavy tasks are not important right now. Hopefully the next time I'm in the market for an upgrade, AMD has pulled their stuff together and can compete with Intel like they used to.

dont know why people say the 8120 doesnt work....mine works fine. bf3 runs @ 60-70 fps and the game has great graphics. i only have mine pushed to 4.0 on air...hard to take a quad or six core if unlocked over an 8 core. IMO

If you're not going to OC then I'd say the 8120 will probably be better. I have a 960T overclocked and it's a beast, but I really wouldn't want it much stock compared to an 8120 stock.
Im gonna say 8120. Its still the better processor and if you do decide to get into overclocking, this thing will do a lot more of it than a Phenom. The 960T is a great processor but for $150, the 8210 is a ton of CPU muscle for the dollar.

Dont forget youll also likely need another copy of Win7 if youre swapping out to a different motherboard. A lot of people dont have to as Win7 will work just fine with the new motherboard but you might not be so lucky. I wasnt and had to do a reinstall. Its actually better to do a reinstall anyway at least I think so.
