Help Overclocking my 955 BE

Hey all I know that there seem to be many of these threads and I wasn't entirely sure if I should have piggybacked off of someone else's thread but I wanted to get the communities opinion on what steps I should take to overclock this bad boy.

Below is the link to my cpu-z validation. I had it overclocked before at 3.8 upping the multiplier in the BIOS but I wanted an opinion on how far I might be able to push it.

I have the Corsair H100 liquid cooler for my cooling, just so people know and they don't ask me about it wink.gif

Thanks in advance for the advice and opinions biggrin.gif

I also have the 955, and since yours is a C3. You shouldn't have any problems reaching 4GHz with that H100. biggrin.gif

Try 200 x20 for 4GHz, and ~2800NB see if you can get it stable. Use the multiplier for now, and then tweak the base clock and drop the multi once you find the sweet spot for voltage. IIRC some boards don't work with CnQ enabled if the multi is set above 18.5, so if you want some power saving you'll have to use the base clock.

Turn of C1E/Cool'n'Quiet for now, and use Prime for stability checks in between. I reckon you'll need around ~1.48+ for 4GHz, I need a bit less at 3.8GHz as it gives me the best temps/volts.

Good luck. smile.gif

How would a Hyper 212+ do with a high OC? Trying to get as much performance as I can with the 955BE.

Does great. Add a second fan and configure it as a push-pull and it will do even better.

Just try this ^ to start with and then it its stable at 4GHz and NB @2800 try lowering the vcore. Mine does it at 1.41vcore but trust me it took me FOREVER to get there so just be patient with it thumb.gif

If you can please tell us the temperature you get with H100, i am thinking about getting XSPC Rasa 750 RS240 for my mine .

ok thanks guys i appreciate all the advice and help that you are providing.

I think I'll try it this weekend and let you all know what happened and maybe if it all works out I can make it to the 4.0GHz club lol biggrin.gif

M y 955 is a C2 and I can't get it above 3.5 on stock voltage. Right now I have it running at 3.6 with a slight bump in voltage to ensure stability.

Got to overclocking my CPU today and managed to keep it around 3.8GHz with CnQ/C1E off at 201x19 and the voltage at 1.4V.

Temps were at 66c under full load running Prime95 and Furmark burn in test for 15min.

I might turn the CnQ back on and see what differences I come up with.

I'll let you guys know what happens.

p.s. I tried to start out at 4.0GHz and ran into issues with the settings that were suggested but I may need to take some more time to work up to that point
