Sure thing.

Sony Vaio VPC-F24L1E

Not 16:10 but apart from that

350 euros cheaper
more HDD space
an actual GPU
bigger screen
mine has a battery life of 6-7 hours

compared to Apple MacBook Pro 13,3'' MD313FN/A

With the money you saved you can buy a hefty SSD and enjoy the speed of your new (still cheaper) laptop.

Lenovo T420s
and it will hold up longer than the apple.

^ This is why I say it isn't worth it. You have zillions of cheap solutions, and while making a hackintosh is taboo here in the real world it isn't. Anyone who does anything important portably will say without a doubt the real scare isn't broken hardware, it's missing data. And as far as I know, data failure from a dropped laptop is common. While other hardware failures are real common (AC plugs), they are inexpensive to fix if you know a real hardware man and if it's within warranty it's covered. Outside of that, most broken laptops I've ever seen fall under user error.

Things like this give me hope, ever since hearing this from someone at my school

Other Kid: "You built a PC? ........why.....?"
Me: "Because not only is it a fun thing to do, but if you do it right, you've got a really powerful machine to use and show off"
Other Kid: "But you could have bought a Macbook..."
Me: Why would I waste my money on a macbook?"
Other Kid: "Because they're good."

After hearing that I explained to him how overpriced his macbook was for what was in it and his response was "But macs are easy"

and so is easymac mac n' cheese but that stuff tastes like crap

I wouldn't say macs are for the easy, windows really is the same thing. It's a closed OS, where outside of AV and tweak tools you have no real control. You can do quite a bit more with OSX than Windows. I'll stick up for OSX, it is a good system. However the price you pay for that is a bit too great. Cause really, if you screw up windows with software you can always do the format and install option. How much easier can it get? Point, read, click, done. That's windows, and as much as OSX is like this you still have a terminal that is very productive as well as the entire X11 tool chain if you so choose (start building linux programs). So OSX is very extensive, just so over priced that I can't justify their products.

I do like their portable stuff, phones, pads, ipods, but those products are so expensive in general that it really is hard to find a good deal all around. Their consumer products for computers is just a bit crazy, too crazy.

and i agree with you, especially on the price of the mobile devices.
I mean seriously who charges $799.99 for an iphone with no contract. that is beyond ridiculous. that is ludicrous.

Yeah but they are easy, I'm not saying you were wrong. Apple has built the entire OS off simplicity and keeping the common user from screwing crap up. I actually like OSX, I just don't like what has been done with it. I wish it was more open and licensed/sold like Windows.

Yeah, their software is really pretty dang good. I've thought about running it but can't justify the reason to buy the DVD so I won't. Linux does everything I need, so for now that and Windows Server 2008 do everything I need.

The main reason I like OSX is because they let you do more than Windows ever does as far as customization under the hood. You can build a mach kernel, so that alone gives you performance that windows won't ever touch. It's a solid OS, just really do not like their pricing. =(
