It's cool they're giving people with a psychotic love of messy sloppy vehicle orgys a map pack to play on, but it's still pandering to the fringes instead of fixing the core issues with the game.

I agree. I'm very happy they pandered to my fringes and got with some more CQB (although I'm not happy about having to pay for it - I still don't have karkland and probally wont get it because it's not my style. And keeping things not free will definately segment the core players, which is a very very bad thing for game longevity.)

And yes, tons of things need to fixed, but for the complexity of the game engine and everything that needs to be balanced, I am very impressed.

Sadly, yes. BF2 years ago pulled off a game that was bigger and more complex for it's time. In some ways it still is. And that was all before Battlefield was some huge name everybody knew. Consoles may rake in the masses but they sure do have an adverse effect on quality.

They tried to make Battlefield fun for everybody no matter their playstyle, it supports passive play, teamwork and fast CQB. I really enjoy it, its hard to get bored playing. So no, consoles dident ruin BF.
It solely depends on how you play the game and who you play it with.

All I know is, hardcore mode = teamwork mode.

I actually knew this since before the game actually released due to details released by DICE, but for some reason I completely forgot till a few days ago.

-The increased danger keeps people closer and medics/engis become your best friends due to no auto heal/repair.

-Suppression really works too. If people cant get a clear shot, they wont risk trying to stand in front of your fire to try and get a quick one in. This allows your team mates to move up feeling safer.

-Tanks gain god like strength, but are still vulnerable.

-No "shoot over here" 3D spot markers.

Hardcore-team deathmatch >>> Normal mode-conquest (imo). Simply because people slow down and stick together a lot more.

I don't know, it just seems like the tactical and teamwork elements of the game show themselves much more in hardcore games. Mostly because having the extra people around you makes much more of a difference.

I wish they didn't call it "hardcore" though. If anything, stat wise and gameplay wise, "hardcore" mode is actually closer to the traditional Battlefields than normal mode is.

Edit: Wrong thread *facepalm*

Ruin might have been a big/harsh word but, there's no doubt: Consoles were the reason BF3 was "cut down" in the end. DICE said so themselves; they had to switch gears mid-production because the console hardware simply couldn't handle the loads from the game in it's original state.

As the absolute VAST majority in the gaming world, if the console owners were to get together and ask for newer hardware maybe they'd get it. But even mention something like that on YouTube or a forum and you'll get labelled a pc elitist or worse.....

But it's 2012 folks and this is where the gaming industry is at; so, Love It Or Leave It.

BF3 is the best shooter out at the moment so, I'm playing it. Maybe Arma III will bring a nice surprise this summer.thumb.gif
