2x OZC Agility3 in RAID 0 with Kingston hyperX

Hi

I am just wondering if thre would be any issues to set up 2x OZC Agility 3 120GB drives with a Kingston Hyperx 120GB drive in RAID 0.
The speeds are somewhat identical, and now that the OCZ drives has been more stable after the firmware update I was wondering on buying 2 of these and set in RAID 0 with my current HyperX.
Anyone have any thought on this ?

Last I heard the drives had to be exactly same, as in 2x 120gb ocz vertex 3 drives for instance. But this needs confirming. Also dont forget the speeds of these drives, your only gonna get up to 600mb/s with sata3, so the speed of the two agility 3 drives will likely be at or above 600mb/s on thier own, so your going to be limited here.

no all drives dont have to be the same, it will be limited to the slowest one. and no all drives does not share speed over 1 sata port.

OP - i say u shouldnt raid the hyperx with the other 2. i say let it run as a standalone drive.

Well the thing is that I want the speed of all three in Raid 0.
aka ~1500MB R\W, the only reason im considering OZC drives is that they are 2/3 the price but just as fast.
They had issues with the firmware before but I think that is fixed now with the new firmware.
For the price of 2 HyperX's I can get 3x OZC Agility 3 so thats why I thought about buying agility's instead.

You wont get those speeds with sata3, like i said 600mb/s is max.

but they wont be sharing a port... so couldnt u get the max speed of 3 ports? or 600 per drive

I just assumed and have been told this in the past that the limit is on the drive, and since raid 0 turns the ssd's into one drive it would be 600mbs on the whole. I used to have 2x ocz vertex 2's in raid 0 and I think I cant be sure, that my speeds were limited at the time, possibly down to sata2 speeds.

Maybe OP would need a dedicated raid card here or an OCZ revo drive that connects via pcie?

I don't recommend getting the agility 3s to RAID them With the hyper X.

First of all, speed wise you wont notice a difference.

Second, the hyper X is more than 2X faster than the Agility 3 with compressed data.

When you put multiple drives in RAID 0 the speeds get added by the slowest drive in the array. Say you have 2 hyper X's that max @ 500MB/s each, put them in RAID 0 you get 1GB/s speeds. Take 3 = 1.5GB/s speeds. Take 4 = 2GB/s. But, the onboard controller does have limits where bandwidth will be maxed.

so sean if I have 2x ssd's that do 500mb/s each, and I raid 0 them on sata3, I can get over 600mb/s?

If so what does the 600mb/s limit refer to then if you can just go over it with raid?
