Any one else failing WUs?

Thread Starter
For some reason, my GTX 570 has been failing 1-2 WUs a day now since about the end of the April fold-a-thon. Has anyone else been having any issues? Nothing has changed with my system, hardware or drivers.

It has also been picking up work units that i have not seen before so im wondering if maybe something is wrong with my card or if there are new units that might be having issues.

Downclock a bit or add voltage. What Wu's are failing for you ? Some are certainly tougher on my rig than others.

But to answer your question, no, none of mine are failing lately. I'm getting 8035's and 764x's.

I've had 4-5 new WUs over the past month and non of them have failed so I think you'd have to assume the issue is not with the WUs but on your end. As Daniel mentioned try downclocking or raising voltage. What clocks and volts are you at currently? Did you recently update drivers around when the problem started? What is the actual error listed in the log as? Maybe post up one of the logs if you have them, you also might want to fill out your system specs in the rigbuilder in the top right of the page when you get a chance.

Yes finally someone with my same problem! About three days ago i started failing the 764x WUs constantly on one of my 460s. The other one was fine but the other could not complete a single one for about two days. I had given up hope after it continued to fail even at a significant downclock. However now there appears to be new work units out there for GPUs and it is happily chugging away. I have bumped the card up to almost stock clocks and it appears to be doing just fine. Has so far completed almost 4 WUs without a problem.

If you guys believe that it's the WUs and not your hardware then keep track of what WUs you are failing (including the project run gen and clone) and also the logs and then if you notice any patterns or trends in what WUs are failing then bring it up at FoldingForum.

Ok so i just checked and the three that are still in my hfm queue are all 7644(R14, C0, G31). I take it that these are all the same WU in general then? Not sure how standford names the units
post #7 of 16
They are identified by the Project (7644), the Run (R14), the Clone (C0), and the Gen (G31). I thought that there was only one WU that had all the same PRCG numbers though, so are you sure that they are all the same RCG numbers?

Here is the screenshot from the queue 146
I had failed the first three that have a listing +about 20 other ones. I know faulty hardware is just as bad as deleting units

I had deleted everything in the FAH folder except for the client.confg file so I find it weird that I was assigned the same WU if as you state that means it is the same unit
post #9 of 16
I could be wrong but yea I was under the impression that each PRCG number was unique. Maybe it was trying to give you the exact same WU...

Either way I would just keep a close eye on it for the next few days and get as much info as you can (maybe even turn verbosity up to 9 and save all the logs) and then report whatever you find to the appropriate section of the foldingforum, the have sections for problems with a specific WU or with a specific project whatever your case may be.

I just checked and the failures come that same WU. No idea why it was trying to send me the same one. Glad that i just noticed that as it does not appear to be a hardware failure anymore which explains why the GPU was able to pass all of the stability tests.
