Will doubling the memory make a difference?

In short for their previews, no. The looser timings will though. However I want to see detailed tests at a high Eyefinity/Surround environment.

This card was already up for sale at a huge online PC retailer in Australia.

Sold out almost instantly.

You can find it here: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=20122

And it only costs an extra $70 over the 2GB model. thumb.gif

Even though I am skipping this gen, 3 slot cards turn me off extremely. Pretty soon we will need boards with at least 3 more PCI slots just to compensate if 3 slot cards keep the trend.

This. People are already having a hard time keeping 2 slot sli/crossfire setups cool. This will add to the problem or make it even impossible to do so.

That price is excellent for double ram and custom cooler.

However, I am not sure the 4gb is warranted, even for huge resolutions. I thought some preliminary benches showed only a few (3-4) fps improvement over the 2gb model.

I thought the price was a typo, but I'll be stoked if that's what they keep it at. I'm hanging out for some benches on this badboy thumb.gif

I say bring on the 4GB 680's. I'm looking at you, EVGA yessir.gif

Only...lol the gtx 680 cards are already stupidly expensive. £500 for a single gtx 680 is so expensive. Im gonna hold out for Gk110 and sell my gtx 570, should be big improvement performance wise then.

This review demonstrates the 2GB bottleneck perfectly.

I'm not sure that 4GB would benefit FPS more than 3GB would, but this certainly indicates that more than 2GB is certainly necessary for high resolution set-ups.

True, but 10-15% more to double your vram isn't too bad. Some people pay that much in tax.

Although, it looks like they upped the price.
