Why are CPUs getting smaller? (nm architecture) - Page 2

That's correct^^
You can get more chips per wafer with a smaller architecture which means more money!!
it's increases the Internal Rate of Return, to a greater value allowing their MARR (minimum acceptable rate of return) to increase without ppl throwing a conipschit.
Anyways that's beside the point.
Point is it means more money and higher quality at lower power consumption.
Cheers!

Actually sideburns he's right with a smaller process you can squeeze more L2 on the chip... For example lookit the northwoods and prescotts; sure the northwoods ran cooler, but that was because the prescotts crammed on twice the cache, but with only ~30% more space to work with.

That doesn't mean they're not adding to the chip though like he said... cuz they are.
