according to this. thats not going to happen.

DX9.0L is a special version of DirectX 9 for Vista only that allows DX9 games to run with Vista's new driver model. It's not possible to run D3D10 on XP without running in pure software emulation.

mmm emulation sounds fun huh.

Actually so far UT2007 is going to be DX9. Most people belive it is DX10 but about a month ago I searched long and hard and could not find any proof of it running DX10. There may be a patch but until then DX9 it is.

More copies will be sold if its DX9... We don't need DX10 games to be coming out just yet IMO. Too many people won't make the switch to G80 or R600 that quick.

Maybe when mid-range cards come out.

Read up a little and you'll see that there are several games that current video cards cannot handle....some even in SLI or Crossfire. If you doubt this, take the latest Nvidia or Ati card and try to run EQ2 in a 24 man raid with Extreme Graphics on. It'll bring the card to it's knees.

I find EQ2 is not well-optimized however. The graphics aren't as nice as Oblivion and you could run that in SLI/Crossfire. Granted a 24-man raid is more demanding than single-player Oblivion

There are several games that will bring the latest dx9 cards to "unplayable" frame rates at high resolutions with the graphics set to full. Poor coding or not, a faster card will help and there IS a market for it.

Doesn't matter if you, me, or anybody else on these forums can't afford or won't buy those cards at launch for some reason or other, but the bottom line is that there are people that can and will.
