What is the difference between the GTX 280 EVGA 01G-P3-1280-AR vs GTX 280 EVGA 01G-P3-1282-RX

I bought this card off the market place back in march of 2010

http://www.overclock.net/t/695473/evga-gtx-280-superclocked-220-shipped

Evidently the one i got was not the super-clocked version. Is there a big difference price wise in the two cards?

There usually isn't, at brand new retail prices, a huge difference between a slightly factory overclocked card and one at stock speeds. Unless you get into cards that are both overclocked factory and have a better cooling solution than reference. So a card with a slight overclock, and that is it, tends to sit around $30, one that is overclocked and has better cooling can be upwards of $80 more give or take.

The exception being a card that has a waterblock factory, these can skyrocket in price.

The reason why i am asking this is cause i just sold it and they are saying the model number is different. I was pretty sure i put the correct model when i sold it on Ebay. Anyway any help would be much appreciated.

On a used card the price difference is very little. The difference between the two cards you listed is pretty minor, as the overclock isn't that aggressive. My best advice would be to look at any documentation you have, preferably photos, that show what you sold and then compare that to what you had listed. Always always heavily photo and document anything you are going to sell online to protect yourself.

A few years back I sold a CMTS and the buyer came back about 3 weeks later and tried to say I shipped him a different unit and wanted a 50% refund. Since I had heavily documented everything I was able to prove he had the correct unit and protect myself, as it turns out he had tried this before on another seller.

Now if it turns out that you did list the wrong item I would offer the guy a small refund or even a return on the card. Starting with a minor refund because the performance difference between the two cards is very little. If that doesn't work a return is the way to go.

I have no documentation and the picture from the guy i bought it from are no longer valid on the market place. He also is not active here anymore. I did PM him though. Anyway i sold it on ebay for $89 bucks what do you think i should offer for the difference between the two as compensation?
If you are in touch with him through eBay I would offer $10 or $15 at the most, outside of that just have him send it back and sell it again.

we will see what he says though if he refuses shipping fee's are gonna screw me. I see why people take a pix of the things they sell with your user name on it.
Is there a way to tell which GPU you had previously installed in your system?

IMG_0382.JPG 1618k .JPG file I finally got the item back and of course it does not work here is my problem. See attached picture. Anyway to fix? Not sure what the person did to it.
since you did not take pictures of the card, before shipping it out. there is really no telling what card it is.

In norway, you have a 2 week period when you sell things, if the buyer does not report any issues within 14 days, he is Alone (unless other agreement was agreed upon)

If that is your card, what i reccommend you to do, is test it on different systems, and in the worst case scenario, try and bake the card in the oven at 200'C for 10-12 minutes.
Dismantle the cooler and all plastic parts and place the card above a sheet of aluminum foil, suspended by aluminum balls that hold the card up with a pointy end in the Cooler fastening holes on the card.

This will reflow the Soldering on the card, incase the artifacts are caused by the card overheating and in return some solder on the card has melted.
do this at your own risk though.

i put an appeal in for the case saying it is not my card. We will see what ebay does though i have my doubts.

I wish the pictures from this post still worked, since this is where i bought it from.

http://www.overclock.net/t/695473/evga-gtx-280-superclocked-220-shipped/0_50

Maybe i can sell it "as is" somewhere. Maybe on amazon since eBay seems to be a ripoff.
