[Se7ensins] DICE Speaks Out About A Battlefield 3 Patch - Page 21

What are you talking about now? What you wrote is true, but in no way related to what I wrote. I haven't mentioned the crash zones even once, because it isn't related to what I said in any way. Also I gave you some examples of what parts are designed to be not reusable/unfixable or over-engineered.

This was a BF3 patch discussion and by one small mention of cars now it's.. what exactly.

1990s cars were far more reliable than those of the last decade, because they were simpler, more robust and made of good materials, now everything is made to break, overly complicated and of cheaper materials. The so called "economical crisis" greatly contributed to that. I've read (can't find the source now) that car makers actually make more money on the parts than on the car sale itself and parts are made in such a way that they can't be fixed and must be replaced (many Mercedes parts such as ABS pump, or dual mass flywheels in most modern cars, high-frequency surface hardened camshafts that can't be reground). And the techniques used with cars and other businesses - for example refresh the looks every year or two, but it's still the same product underneath - is also used with games (COD, anyone?).
Enough about cars, that was just a side example.

Sorry but there weren't any 10 year / 100,000 mile warranties back in the 90's like there are today. Cars of 2012 are an order of magnitude better than they were in 1992...

Horns on the jeeps suck, they should make some unlockable horns that actually sound decent.

I don't care what excuse DICE uses, but turning armored vehicles into wet paper towels and nurfing repair speed to ridiculous levels did not help the game one bit.

Blame all the infantry lone wolfs who complain. The problem is DICE is listening to these people, remember the people who are satisfied wont complain and be loud, while the whiners will until they get their way. DICE then view these people as the majority. To be honest the game was balanced when it came out, then they messed it up. Boo hoo the USAS 12 is killing me, maybe you should stay of metro then, any other map and its garbage. The complains are usually the COD crowd who have migrated to BF3 and expect to be awesome cause they were at cod, then when they get school by a vehicle they demand it be nerfed so they can take it out on their own than taking it down as a team. You have to remember most of these whiners dont even use the vehicles and are just infantry goers; so they have no clue how to deal with a tank, dont know its limitations etc.

As for the VOIP no one in BF2 used the VOIP, it was generally poorer quality, most people would either have it disabled or not use it. Most servers use teamspeak and they still do in BF3.

Battlefield games are hard to balance, there is so many weapon and vehicle combos. Plus there is not pro circuit so the pros are not the ones balancing the game the community is and alot of them are clueless. Even if there was a pro circuit stuff like the vehicles would not be balanced because vehicles are not used in pro games even in Bf2. I don't think there has ever been 32v32 pro matches but there should be.

I'm one of the clueless noobs that walks around shooting randomly at crap until I get owned by a tank. No idea how to even begin to play the MP so I stick to the campaign which I'm relatively good at...

Keep close to your teammates, get an RPG, hide behind something, pop out, fire the rocket, hide to reload, repeat. You can single-handedly take down a tank with the RPG if he doesn't have a proximity scan and/or a gunner.
