Quick Disconnects. - Page 2

Bump! Does anybody that has 7/16 ID tubing use any Koolance Quick DC's? I'm going to buy some myself, but these (for example) say that they're for 1/2 ID ONLY. I'm fairly certain that doesn't matter - I guess if anything it just voids a warranty, but does anyone want to confirm that, or at least state why they put that warning there?

I do not know exactly the reason for that warning. I suppose it is just a standard disclaimer for leakage problem.

Regardless, I think it is safe to use your 7/16'' ID tubing with Koolance QDC for 1/2'' ID.
But, I suggest using the barb type (eg VL3N-F13B) instead of the compression type (eg VL3N-F13S) due to your tubing's slight ID variance.

The come in angles too.. Only gripe is they aren't cheap since they add up, but if you are going to have a pimp rig, go big or go home right? biggrin.gif
As for flow restriction which I'm sure it'll come up so I'll just add that now.. I have 3x VL4N, 2x VL3N, 4x Bitspower 90 barbs, 3 GPU block + 3x 360 Radiators, plus about 3 feet of tubing between all of them, 2x D5 running at (5) and I get 1.1 GPM... It's all good !!

Those three Aqua Computer AquagraFX blocks are (high restriction) the most restrictive in your loop, those 90* and elbows barely amount to much.

I'm using 2x VL3N with my 3/8 ID x 5/8 OD tubing, the VL4N is for 1/2 ID x 3/4 OD tubing.

mm67 did an interesting test the other day and posted the results in another thread here. I would run dual pumps if using multiple QDC's.

Yep, pointing out that even in my loop which is LONG compared to most, 3x blocks, 3x 360 radiators, 3 feet or so of tubing, 5 pairs of Koolance QDC, 2x D5 @ (5) and still able to get 1.1GPM..

Koolance QDC is the way to go IMHO, regardless of the price of entry.

I also have a couple of sets of these QDC's :

http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p4447_Quick-release-connector-13-10mm--3-8---coupling.html
http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p4448_Quick-release-connector-13-10mm--3-8---plug.html

that look like a copy of Koolance QDC's and even they perform very much differently than those Phobya QDC's. I think I'll repeat same test with them.

Martinsliquidlab has some extensive testing of Fittings and Elbow Impacts if anyone is interested.

I have the compression versions on my 7/16 x 5/8 tube and they work. They are tight and very hard to get off the tube once they are on, but they work.
