Another Asus RMA...another unhappy Asus user.

I had something like this happen with 2 6870 Asus GPU's....

2 months... and finally got them back.

Should I buy a Crosshair IV Formula, knowing ASUS is going to have a bad warranty process if it ever dies? Does the CIVF outweigh the warranty process?

I wouldn't, but I build my computer knowing that the companies I'm support offer an easy warranty in case anything ever goes wrong. So far, I've had outstanding RMAs on the few items I've had to send back to the manufacturer, so I'm glad I purchased my build around that idea. G. Skill has had the best/fastest RMA process I've ever had. Corsair is also close to being on the top, but G. Skill has overall been a lot faster for me.

The only way you'll get a brand new replacement board is if they don't have any refurbs immediately available or if you pitch such a bitty fit all the way up the chain of command that they can't ignore you.

What's going on with Asus CS and Warranty isn't unusual in today's world. Most of these companies outsource their call centers and returns management business to the cheapest bidder at the time with no consideration or qualification to the actual service that their customers will receive when having to deal with either.

I was acually thinking about buying a Asus board for my first time. I think I'll stick with Gigabyte. I have bought about 12 Gigabyte boards and I only RMA'ed once it was a 10 day turn around much faster than expected, and everything worked flawlessly that RMA'd board is still running a machine at my friends house. with 4 GPU's at full load 24/7 it has uptimes of 60 days or more accually never crashes. We just start it sometimes for moving it around.

I've had no problems with Asus, I had an RIIIE and didn't have this issue either.

The fan on my Asus 5870 was rattling in use and I RMA'd it. It wasn't exactly fast ( 2 weeks) but they sent back a BRAND NEW, SEALED Asus ROG Matrix... An upgraded version with I believe a higher clock and I know a better cooler.

I'll continue buying ASUS, I actually bought my 3770k from MC a few days ago and will be waiting for their extreme board to come out and will build on it.

Every company will have a bad product like this...

I've had trouble with Asus RMA as well, but before you knock it, compare it to other company's first. I'm trying to do an RMA with DIAMOND, and nearing two weeks without a response even. So compared to DIAMOND, I'm much more satisfied with Asus' RMA service.
