High voltage required to overclock my core i7 2600k - Page 2

I bought my 2500k, my e3 g3 and my dh14 so i could overclock I was able to change the multi to 45 and boot up without changing anything else and run prime 12 hours stable but anything higher required A LOT of fiddling but I'm happy with my 24/7 5 ghz!

Ok well i've just tryed going above 1.4v to reach a stable 4.7ghz setup but :

4.7ghz @ 1.4v = BSOD
4.7ghz @ 1.4v05 = BSOD
4.7ghz @ 1.410v = BSOD
4.7ghz @ 1.415v = BSOD
4.7ghz @ 1.420v = BSOD

so i think it's not worth it... i'll stick with my ****ty 4.6ghz frown.gif

BTW, it's really strange because even if i setup the core voltage @ 1.420v in BIOS, CoreTemp still tells me that the VID is @ 1.4011v .... it never goes above 1.4011v in CoreTemp... this is weird

You're experiencing Vdroop, It happens with everyone, while I have my Vcore set to 1.46V i rarely see above 1.446 V at full load. This is when LLC comes to play I'm set at level 2 LLC and I still am .14 below my target Vcore but I'm completely stable and the reported voltage isn't 100% accurate from Core Temp/CPU-Z. LLC reduces Vdroop and sometimes cause stability issues since it means higher temps with higher voltages!

Am I confused.. he is talking about VID, not vcore .. what does cpu-z show as your vcore under stress once you've set 1.42v manually in BIOS?

^^ Thats normal, its reading per ram channel, so 800mhz x 2 = 1600mhz.

Its not exactly 800 because the bus clock isnt bang on 100.00 in your BIOS. You can manually set 1040 and it will read the ram correctly.

I am running 44x with vCore offset mode: -0.095 (yes minus value). Idles around 30C with .90v and stress (Intel Burn Test) around 74C with vCore fluctuating around 1.26 - 1.30. Is it OK? I believe the offset negative value is a bit higher?? but I was trying to lower it to under volt when idle to reduce heat.

I found my 44x sweet spot at 1.29v manual, and then tried with offset mode. A smaller negative offset value (say -0.010) giving very high voltage spikes (around 1.38 for 44x!) so I decided to go lower and see... I don't see any BSOD in both stress and idle. Is there any problem with this very low ngative offset??
