Some "Problems" while overclocking my GPU

Thread Starter
first of all after i overclocked my pc´s gpu i tried to oc my laptops gpu..i heard its not recommended but i tried it anyways biggrin.gif

its an Acer Travelmate 8572TG - i5 520m - geforce 310m - 4gb ram - 500gb hdd

The 310M stock speeds were:
Core: 625
Memory: 790
Shaders: 1530

i read something on downloading another driver but i tried it first with the msi afterburner and it directly identified my grafic card.

the max temperature in kombustor stress test was 70-71 degree

after i started oc it in little steps i realized there is not much higher gpu temperature ( the core temp is the kinda the same than the gpu temp) than before ocing.

it was stable till

core: 700
memory: 860
shader: 17xx i guess cant remember cause i cant set it up seperate

but the temperature was just like 73 degree or something so in my opinion it wasnt overheating or something.

then the driver popped up a window where it showed something like : "driver stopped working "

then the gpu didnt worked on full speed i guess it was just like 50% of max power

after a reboot and back to:

core: 655
memory: 820
shader: 1603

its working fine for 45 min stress test on max 72 degree

NOW MY QUESTION biggrin.gif

why i cant oc more than ~690/~850/~16xx without getting errors?

and

do u even recommend ocing this gpu or it wont get much more performance for the battery use?

THANK U IN ADVANCE

Not enough voltage. Battery will drain a lot faster. Not worth it.
