New Hard Drive = New Windows Installation?

I bought a 1TB WD hard drive today, and on my other 250GB hard drive I have all my files and OS, to transfer everything to my 1TB can I just copy everything from 1 HD to the other or do I have to do a fresh installation of windows on the 1TB?

I would clone the drive as Sean said. Takes a bit of time but you don't have to worry about your data. then you can keep yoru 250GB laying around as a kind of backup incase things go down hill.

Cloning from HDD to HDD isn't a bad idea. It's not like there's any SSD optimizations to apply. It's just another hard drive, and it works fine without any effort on your part.

That said, many people use a fresh install as a chance to clean things up.
