I don't think anyone understands this. The S4 is better then the Exynos in virtually everything other then superfluous synthetic benchmarks. In reality, anyone who WOULDNT take a much more power efficient/powerful dual core when compared to a quad core in the mobile space is just inept. I'd be surprised if anything other then some of the multi threaded benchmarks actually used more than 2 cores.

Hell, even Samsungs next Exynos, the 5250, is gonna be a 2Ghz DUAL CORE chip. Quad core is just a marketing gimmick at this point in tablets/phones, although hopefully app developers begin to take the hint about making apps more threaded.

Correct most likely be using Exynos 4212. I'm not surprised that Samsung went to the Qualcomm SoC every LTE radio in America is a Qualcomm.

Maybe Quad + LTE = 5hours battery rolleyes.gif so wouldn't it be better to go faster more efficient dual core + LTE. I know LTE eats up a lot of battery if you're within the area. Since they keep mentioning of incompatibilities or maybe they're just purposely holding back so they can make multiple revisions? Just like with the ATT Skyrocket (my phone tongue.gif) they changed the Exynos from the Galaxy S2 to the Snapdragon just to support LTE. The more we move onto bigger screens, higher resolutions, the less room or even power for multi-core phones as well as battery eating speed modems. There has to be a balance or at least they need to make some of the others more efficient. Just my speculations biggrin.gif

Don't care about LTE, really. How fast does a phone need to download data? I pull 3Mb/s down on my Galaxy S (Captivate). Getting bumped up to 5-8Mb/s will make little to no difference in my perception of the phone. Giving me a faster CPU, bigger and better screen, longer battery life and more GPU performance is something I will notice and pay for.

There are currently no 4G networks out there based on the standards that are required. Namely the 1Gb/s fixed down and 100Mb/s mobile down speeds. The claims of 4G get on my nerves...

except 4g will push you to around 15mb/s+. Here in Bloomington IL and Peoria IL i have hit up to 25mb/s download speeds, which is amazing if you use the dropbox sync feature or any cloud services. the bump from 3g to 4g isnt as small as you said in your post. its quite a large jump forward.

sitting here at work with 3 bars on 4g i just pulled 18mb/s down and 7.5mb/s up.

This, thank you.

All the carriers claim complete BS for what they advertise as 4g. What carriers claim as 4g is more accurately 3g+

-_____- Why do they do annoying crap like this? Doesn't it cost them MORE to manufacture different variants of what should essentially be the same phone? What will a dual core S3 offer over the S2?

Yeah, it's supposed to get the Exynos Quad. Not sure what Tegra 3 has to do with any of this?

Then again, US LTE will probably get the same treatment as previous phones. The reason the Skyrocket didn't come with Exynos. Reason why the HTC One didn't come with Tegra 3. LTE based on QC.

It has to do with the LTE radio for US phones. They use QC for that. Exynos doesn't have it. Same reason that the Skyrocket doesn't have Exynos.
The Galaxy S3 isn't going to use the Tegra 3 in any country. Samsung makes their own line of processors. The International S3 will feature the Exynos 4412, which is Samsung's new quad core processor. The US version is said to feature the Snapdragon S4 because of its LTE compatibility, but nothing is set in stone yet. I would take the S4 and LTE any day over the Exynos 4412 and HSPA+.
