Bottleneck question

Will this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125411

be bottlenecked by this

http://ark.intel.com/products/27248/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E6300-(2M-Cache-1_86-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB)

and will it matter in games like san andreas, diablo 3 or fallout if it is?

Yes at 1.86 the duo will be a huge bottleneck. Shouldn't be a real problem though. I don't get why people worry about bottlenecks.

hmm.... do you think I would have issues trying to run san andreas at 1920x1080 above 60fps with 3x AA?

The GT 430 isn't exactly a fast card.. I would not worry about bottlenecks. If you can OC your CPU that would be beneficial, but I don't think you are going to notice any sort of bottleneck with that card.

Maybe if it was like a GTX 470 or something, but not a GT 430.

Also, with a card like the GT 430 I would not even be thinking of AA on 1920x1080. That card will let you play the game and that is all.

EDIT: What is your budget? For $70 you can find a GTS 450/HD 5770 used and have a much better playing experience.

My budget is like... $140 and 70 of it was going towards the GT 430 and the other 50 was going towards a used processor from Newegg. This one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116391

My computer is the Dimension E520 so I am limited. I can only use single slot graphic cards as far as I know and I have a 305W PSU.

my current GFX card is an NVIDIA Geforce 7300 LE and it runs San Andreas in 1280x720 at 50-60FPS sometimes dipping into high 40's.

The GT 430 is not a very fast card but it rapes my current one especially the 2GB model thats why I figured it can run GTA SA in 1920x1080 with AA, but screw the AA if it can at least keep a frame rate over 60 at 1920x1080 I will be pleased.

Alright.

1) Let me pick you a better CPU.

Try getting a C2D for $50 over an older Pentium D.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-2-Duo-E6600-2-40-GHz-Dual-Core-4MB-Cache-FSB-1066-CPU-Processor-SL9ZL-/130683684503?pt=CPUs&hash=item1e6d5ac697#ht_653wt_1396

There is a e6600 for $50 shipped on eBay. Some further looking around and you might find better deals.

2) The GT 430 is not strong enough to utilize 2GB of VRAM and the GPU core will be maxed out way before the VRAM is. They sell it like that to use it as a marketing technique. Just go for the 1GB model if you choose to buy one.

Also, regarding the GPU. - If you spend the $50 on a processor that leaves you an entire $90 for the GPU, in which case you could get a MUCH more powerful GPU like the GTX 460 if you look around.

For example, here is someone selling 460's at $80 shipped a piece

http://www.overclock.net/t/1235637/nvidia-brand-gtx-460-1gb-x2-w-sli-bridge

I'm sure he'd part the set and sell them individually.

3) The PSU on your Dell is a 305W - It will be adequate to run a GTX 460 so do not worry.

I would't say that the CPU will bottleneck it, mainly because of the resolution you want to play.
