A.) Everyone knows Motion Conrtols suck, and are only fun when in moderation. Otherwise, their simply a gimic. And a console that not only uses them %100 (not even the wii did that), but soes it using a cheap Kinect (hands free) nockoff - god help the chinese stupid enough to buy that.
B.) Consoles either LIVE or DIE buy their game selection. And in China where its the wild-west of piracy, no developer (or publisher) is going to want to sink any amount of cash into somthing that wouldnt sell a single copy legitimatly - they'd be completely broke after having no way to recuope their losses.
C.) No one - even the super rich - is going to pay $600 for a 'CASUAL' console. Casual gamers just don't value game consoles enough to pay that sort of money. That's why nintendo sold the Wii for $150 for the bulk of it's lifetime. And both DS and Kinect didnt even catch on til they're companies started offering them annually in holiday bundels for practically nothing.
....Bad investment Lenovo. This system is nothing more than a poormans XBOX/Wii Bastard Child - and ultimately will be just a curiosity for the mega rich.

I like motion controls. In fact the idea of playing games like that seems interesting to me. If there's a fully supported motion technology that lets me play good games with it and not some crappy Field where i get to see giraffe's popping up on my screen and running around, im all for it. Are we forgetting the chinese are some of the most innovative people out there? oh and b.t.w yes they would buy it. The wii came out at almost 400$, and lived at 279.99 for most of its lifetime until they dropped it to 179.99 less than a year ago....people still bought it. Wii sold more games than xbox 360, did you know that?

As opposed to Hollywood ripping off Asian media in form of movies, game shows, hopping on the anime bandwagon for cash?

mmm..I wonder what SquareEnix is....

Added info: American Idol isn't original.

It was stolen from the British, which in turn was stolen off the Aussies, which in turn was stolen off New Zealand.
But hey, everyone does a halfass job of another country's original show / media. NZ's got plenty.

The Hunger Game is really a rip off Battle Royale imo.

Oh sorry; I didn't know this console was producing its own movies and television shows. Thank you for correcting me. I don't exactly catch the, 'anime bandwagon' comment either. You mean the films that have been dubbed over for showing in American theaters or shows in general that are picked up by Funimation and whatever the past-generation was (Toonami?) Even then the company wanting to air it would need a contract (My point being that most of these 'free' knock-offs were just a way to deter those who didn't or couldn't buy from Sierra/Valve even further.) Unless you're going to spout over how the artists behind Airbender stole Asian drawing art-styles I don't understand the comment.
What I was getting at is how the 'Western producers and developers' grabbed what Asian companies had been striving to do on the gaming market and made it slightly more enjoyable.

Hollywood/NA ends up butchering a bunch of asian films to get it here, they also dont like having Asians in movies for some reason. Infernal Affairs, Dragon Ball Z, Avatar Last Air Bender, Grudge all those movies have been horrible maimed before being placed on the big screen.

I think this console will do well, and might have a very interesting business concept to it. Families in Asia normal do not buy games its usually with micro transactions, we might be looking at probably the first f2p micro transaction game console.

I'm glad to hear you like motion controls - I myself like 'some' games (particularly wii games) that use motion controls [Zelda: Skyward sword & Metroid: Other M particularly].

The problem is that as a owner of a Wii and both the MOVE and Kinect, I've seen 99% of the games make terrible use of this technology. The games that do a 'better' job of it are usually gimic driven games like rail-shooters or games that 'tack it on'. As, I should mention that as a man in his 30s, I'm old enough to actually remember the history of Motion tech in gaming...and I can tell you that it's pretty much sucked. Weither it was the NES Powerglove, ROB the robot (NES), the early Nvidia Motion chairs, backpacks, gloves, mice, and cameras all sucked too. I also should mention that I have been a manager at GAMESTOP since 2005 so I ACTUALLY WAS THERE when the Wii launched..and it launched for $299.99. Not $400 (maybe that was it's inflated price, or a value of a overseas bundel). But we sold them in a Wii Sports Bundel for $299.99 - and they sold out in 15 minutes.

I'd also like to acknowledge that you're correct in saying the Nintendo outsold both it's competators in total system sales...however, it was FAR from out selling just the XBOX 360 (alone) in software sales. I would also like to mention that you are wrong in assuming the wii sold the bulk of its hardware while at the $250+ mark. If you look at its year to year sales, Between 2007-2010 nintendo made well over 60% of its yearly sales in the Q4 of each year. Keep in mind, that in Novemeber 26th of those years, Nintendo lowered the price of its console to $159.99 - $199.99 from 'Black-Friday throught the Holiday sales period.' I'd finally like to mention that as a member of the Game Retail market, I can tell you that MOST of the sales of the Wii where done simply because of the curiosity of 'nongamers'. Many, Many, Many peopl bought them for Christmas for other family members, or purchased them for their families in hopes of 'family bonding' or using games like Wii Fit to getin shape. Funny thing is, I still hear from people that they 'bought a wii, played with it every now and then, and now they just never get around to using, and it just collects dust'. I remeber when the Wii cameout (I was there), and like the launch of the iphone, its clear alot of people bought them just because of the hype...it had nothing to do with the fidelity of the product or its motion technology. Infact the primarly complaint with Nintendo from the game community and journalists is; that it took Nintendo til the twilight of the Wii's lifecycle before they started to produce games that actually seemed to 'benefit' from the motion controls, rather than where contrained by it.

I dont think international consumers have embraced Chinese brands yet; it's hard to believe that China's break out international product is going to be in the well established console market already dominated by huge companies like Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft. At $600 it's hard to imagine it being too successful in the domestic market either.

Isn't Gigabyte centered in China? I know Lenovo is.

Taipei, Taiwan. Almost all of those types of motherboard companies are headquartered in Taiwan. Mainland China does assemble a lot of the parts.
