Is my PSU the problem?

Alright so I have a Mushkin Enhanced 1000W PSU, I've been having some problems with my comp as of late and am beginning to wonder if it is due to the cheap PSU. Problems: 7970 stuttering and Artifacts, both CPU and GPU start to lose voltage after 30 seconds of heavy load causing amperage to fly up (I'm using software for it but it really is a big drop from say 1.31v down to 1.26/1.27 after 30 seconds), also been getting weird music stutter out of my sound card every 2 minutes of play it sounds like an old record skipping for a sec. Could these issues be the PSU?

Hard to tell in an isolated case. Try the PSU in another setup and see if it causes similar issues thumb.gif

I'm not sure when your PSU started being a cheap PSU as they are pretty decent quality and 1000w is far and beyond anything that you need (you're probably using closer to 550w max) - i'd take a look into your drivers as those can often cause issues (i.e. realtek drivers if you have certain ones can cause havoc in a system)

I'd start by setting everything to stock settings if you have an o/c and see if the problems persist, if they do then i'd proceed from there, if they don't continue it may be something with one of your overclocks smile.gif

7970 still causes artifacts at stock, updated drivers for sound card now that's good, changed some RAM timings around and stuttering is less now, hmm don't know now. Vdroop on both CPU and GPU is still there however it might be software related, not reading it properly. Good to know my PSU is a decent one, just that it is very light and couldn't find a review on it. What realtek drivers are you referring to? I have both for LAN and built-in sound (which I only use for Netflix as the D1 does not work with that site).
