Well for reasons I don't really want to get into in this thread if all possible I need a new motherboard for my rig in sig. I have come to two possible options as far as I can see. They are as follows:

Option 1:
Biostar TZ77XE3
Cooler Master Storm Enforcer

Problem with this option is I am uncertain of Biostar. I have never really dealt with the company people leave good comments on them but still uncertain. Reason for case upgrade is I have a Fractal Design Arc Mini right now. For those that don't know it is matx and the motherboard that I would like to get is an atx.

Option 2:
ASUS Maximus V Gene

Problem with this is I have dealt with the RMA process and I just don't want to deal with it again. I don't really want to talk about why with out getting into to much of a gripe thread plenty of that going around.

Or is there another option that I am just not seeing? I probably will be getting this stuff around the first week of May. I have about $200 US to play around with.

I'd get the Gene V man, they're hands-down the best quality/performance mATX boards on the market.

I was a Gigabyte guy for years, but when I switched to mATX, their boards didn't cut it quite as much
(they do have a mATX Sniper - but I'm not a fan of that 4-pin or how they arrange PCI slots).

You didn't tell us exactly what your requirements are nor how you came down to those only two options so I am going to assume it is because of your mATX case.

Asrock/Gigabyte have several models that would fit:
- Asrock Z77 Fatal1ty Professional-M, Z77 Extreme/Pro-M models
- Gigabyte G1 Sniper M3, GA-Z77M*** models

You could check other manufacturers as well (MSI etc) - I'm fairly certain they have mATX boards as well

I took the Sniper out because of the weird PCI-Express layout. If I remember right it was x16 x4 x8. Most people here say to stay away from the Asrock because of their power phase something because Asrock says their digital and other people say they aren't. I don't really know if that matters or not. I thought about a MSI motherboard but people are on the fence about MSI. Some say they are good. Some say they are bad. I don't know.

Requirements gaming and internet surfing maybe an overclock of 4.0 to 4.5 Ghz

I am not really sure what I need or want to do.

Edit: I am really thinking about Asrock Z77 Extreme4-M. How are Asrock in quality?

Edit: I am really thinking about Asrock Z77 Extreme4-M. How are Asrock in quality?

I saw the digital vs analog VRM argument as well and did some research on this.
I think it would have mattered if asrock only had 4 pins for the CPU but since their high end boards (for overclocking) have 8 pins, it shouldn't be an issue.
8 will be more than enough for your standard/enthusiast overclock (up to ~5ghz I'd say). Some people have reached 5ghz with 4-pin motherboards as well.
For hardcore/LN2 stuff, not so sure.

I was also a bit wary about asrock motherboards but it seems they are well received by users since the past year or two.
Personally, I'm getting the Z77 Pro-M. I chose mainly based on colors since most boards would be more or less the same, unless you're very finicky about the latest details.
I also considered the Maximus V Gene but I need a PS/2 port, which it doesn't have.

I think I will go with the Maximus V Gene because I already have the old one and everyone of the motherboards I looked at just didn't seem to cut it.

Asrock boards the lower end ones didn't have the debug leds and I read some article about don't chose motherboards that don't have the mosfets (I think that what there are called) that are labeled.
MSI just not certain about them
Gigabyte the pci slot layout.
Asus P8Z77-M / Pro I really like them but again don't have a debug led. Also really don't care for baby blue when the rest of my computer is either red and black

I know minor complaints but if something goes wrong with the board it's really nice having that debug option to show what is really wrong with your board. I will probably buy it sometime not sure might have to save up more money. Thanks for putting up with me.
