http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12325/ex-blc-855/Koolance_VID-NX580_NVIDIA_GTX_580_VGA_Liquid_Cooling_Block_No_Fittings.html

Apparently they don't work well together? What would have been my indication that the card I chose had a non-standard form? Feeling like a newbie and gearing myself for the RMA...

Any assistance would be appreciated, cheers!

the card you have is basically the second reverence version, the block is for the first.
an example of a compatible block would be this one here:
http://www.ekwaterblocks.com/shop/blocks/vga-blocks/fc-geforce/5x0-gtx-series/ek-fc570-gtx-se-en-nickel.html

and did you order the other WC parts yet?

if you don't have the gpu yet, attempt to get this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130593
its easier to set up a return through newegg then frozencpu.

This website is usually the best to check to see what type of PCB a GPU uses. Since you can see it needs the EK 570 SE v1.1, not an EK 580 block, then it's safe to assume other 580 blocks won't work. Had you mentioned your cards were 570HD's, I'd have pointed out they probably wouldn't work... frown.gif

I plan on picking up the Raystorm Extreme RX240 within the next month. And later get another 240 rad and some blocks for my 480's.

I have heard nothing but good things about the XPSC kits, especially the Raystorm Extremes. They just seem to be always sold out at FrozenCPU everything I try to get one.

Gonna be tough to fit 2 240 rads in my Antec 1200 but I'll figure it out hah!

if you don't mind buying from a canadian store, this is essentially a raystorm extreme kit but more customizable just follow the steps.

Thanks for the insight... the reference models were totally what threw me off. I bought most of my cooling gear from FrozenCPU.com, with the exception of the GPU blocks which I grabbed from NCIX.com along with the GPUs themselves. Since I have done a bit of work on the GPUs to prepare them already (ugh) I think I will go about doing an RMA for the blocks and getting the correct blocks as above.

This is an AMAZING website, and should probably be stickied for newbie watercoolers. Good call on that! Bookmarked, +1. I kinda rushed into the GPUs since I thought I had it all figured out, and turns out I didn't. Should have waited a bit longer for some feedback before going ahead with it.

This is why it's always a good idea to fill out your system in the rig builder, or at least post the hardware you're using. tongue.gif It never hurts to have extra eyes on things.

How good are EK blocks, anyways?

Alright so I have done the RMA for the bad blocks. However, I have heard questionable things about the EK blocks. Theoretically the G1/4 thread size is pretty much the same all over, so I should have no trouble getting it to work with my current fittings and nozzle size, but they have some curious disclaimers about not using their products. I have been sticking to Koolance and the XSPC Raystorm kit parts, because I had heard good things about their quality.

So.... how good are the EK blocks, really? Any chance of someone else having a 2nd reference block for the GTX 570 series?

EK's blocks are just fine, the biggest issue is a while back they had some issues with very thin nickel plating flaking off, generally when ran in a loop with a silver killcoil due to the corrosion potential, though some may have flaked on their own. Their new EN plated blocks are supposed to be much better, though they still recommend not running silver in the same loop as nickel. Go with one of their bare copper blocks, or go with an EN block and use a copper sulfate based biocide and you shouldn't have any issues at all.

Well, mostly because I paid only $150 each for them, found a nice deal (it's over now)... I'll probably upgrade to the 670 soon, but I splurged on the case which will treat me well for a loooooong time coming. Shipping costs (and customs costs) to Canada caught up with me, so I'm gonna have to hold off on the video cards that this build deserves (for now). Pleased with the expandability of the rest of my build, but graphics cards are always one of those things you will have to upgrade anyways. Also went cheaper on the GPUs because I've only got one monitor at the moment and these GPUs will be overkill for it anyways.

That said, I may rethink WC on these interim GPUs. Haven't ordered yet, but was kind of excited to do everything WC.... whatever. Decisions decisions.
