Same. Turning shadows from Ultra to Low made the biggest difference in FPS for me. All you lose is shadows on fence posts and the like. You still get static shadows on buildings and landscape. Worth the tradeoff on this unoptimized client. It's quite obvious that the game is CPU-bound. Hopefully their optimizers get to work over the coming months.

I'm enjoying the game so far. Playing a Necromancer. This combat feels a little like a spam fest, but I'm playing with an open-mind. I think the reason why some people are hating it is because it is foreign to them. I'm gonna give it an honest try before I dismiss playing it anymore until release.

Edit: I think our overclocks may have something to do with the low performance as well. I'll try stock and HT turned off later tonight and see if that helps.

Cool, I'm playing with all the settings maxed out, and the only time my FPS dips is when 50 of us are hammering on a boss at the same time.

I just want to know if the game is highly instanced like the original Guild Wars and if the locations are "open" so to speak or more linear like the original.

I know people hate WoW and I def don't think it's the greatest game either, however the one thing they did right is every zone is seamless and you can literally go anywhere. It's an open world and not some little map where everything is blocked off.

If Guild Wars 2 has that then by looking at the screen shots and the gameplay videos I've seen I think we're in for a real treat!

The game's graphic doesn't look impressive at all. I saw my friend playing earlier today.

I agree completely!!!! For me, this makes or breaks an mmo. It destroys the immersion when you can be in "Forest 25" If anyone else could pass along some info on how they handle this i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

That means you've overclocked your CPU and it's unstable.

They mentioned it won't run / respond well to overclocked systems currently, so that may be why.

I would also like to know this. I stopped playing GW1 because it was too linear to me.
