Can 1 Sapphire HD 7970 handle 2 Yamasaki Catleap 27 Inch Monitors?

Might be a stupid question, but if anyone has an answer to this, that would be helpful in me deciding. Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by "handle" - yes it can run both monitors at the same time, as far as gaming, there isn't an option to play games on just 2 screens, you need 3+ for eyefinity, so you would be playing games on one monitor or the other

So you're saying I'll need about 3 monitors in order to use all of them at once? I'll need an extra 7970 then since the resolution will add up?

Depends on what you're playing. The 7970 has 3GB of VRAM, and most games in eyefinity don't use too much over 2gb with 3 1920x1080 monitors. You should be alright even with the 27 inch monitors.

I'm sure there will be an FPS drop using 3 27 inch monitors? 7680 by 1440p (The 7970 supports only 4096 x 2160 I believe)

Per display, yes, the HDMI and Displayport can support 4096x2160, and the DVI can support 2560x1600. Of course there will be an FPS drop, any time you increase your resolution, you'll get a drop in fps, but I don't think it will be that major.

Thanks for the responses, but I have one last question.. Seeing as the Catleap, Crossover and PCBANK PB2700 has only DVI, my 7970 has just 1 DVI port and I was wondering if it's possible to use HDMI + DVI? I recall reading somewhere that you can't on one of the threads.... Please prove me wrong! smile.gif

an HDMI to DVI-adapter will probably limit you to 1920x1080, which eliminates the point.

Do you have any other advice on this? Like, ex; buying another graphics card with 2 DVI ports?
