Thread Starter
I have an MSI 970A-G46 mainboard, just looking to get some help unlocking the 2 potential cores as I have had absolutely no luck yet following steps I've read online.

I have used overclock genie, as well as tried the steps I've read. The only thing I haven't done. Is boot into windows and read in there, I've only booted back into bios and checked within that. Not sure if that would affect if I was reading the accurate results?

Avoid this.

Trusting low end MSI AMD socket motherboards with 4+1 or below phase count with 125W TDP processors is not wise if the board design is confirmed to be failure-prone (this is merely the 970A-G45 [a confirmed failure-prone board] with a bigger VRM heatsink; a bigger VRM heatsink does not solve everything - in fact if anything is failing with a heatsink on at all then there needs to be serious design modifications).

Thanks, I wasnt overly concerned about it I just wanted to see if it was possible. I am happy with my current setting on this chip anyway smile.gif It's an awesome cpu for sure even at x4. I may end up running a 24/7 on it with a strictly multiplier based rather then the lower multiplier higher FSB that I am doing now considering my board. I suppose I need a better board, and cooler (liquid) to get the full potential of this chip...

Have you tried to just unlock one core not two because core 4 or 5 could be bad and also have you tried to bump voltages a bit?

A significant number of 960Ts (~25% I hear) simply do not have more than four cores. As you said before it is an excellent CPU as a quad but you should find a point when you are prepared to accept four cores.
