Indeed, people are too scared pushing their CPU because of the heat from prime/IBT. Maybe performance protection plan will ease their fears.

Most of the bench team is like that, I did a 1 hour prime run on a mediocre 2500k, but wouldn't touch prime or linx with a good chip. Benchers are weird that way, if we're gonna degrade a chip it'll be with high voltage & clocks going for great scores instead of running at 100% just to see what happens & how hot it gets.
15 minutes isn't too bad though, maybe after the chip has been maxed & scores are done, if it isn't a golden chip.

My P95 and Bf3 temps are basically the same (1C difference ) ..i say P95 is pretty good indication of your load temps

For the stable clocks, my Prime peaked at 80C and BF3 at 73C. That was just one night looking at it and my 560 is dead now, so maybe I didn't do enough.

I think hardly any other games (if any) tax that high.

True I would rather finish my benching before anything else as there is nothing in it to fry the chip before I bench, also FEAR did someone say FEAR are you joking???

I have ran more ES and retails chips to there MAX with LINX and PRIME in my days than I can count!!

BUT I'm running a problem size of LINX now of 25000 with 20 runs even though I dont want to. I hope this will help ease the minds here as I knew it would be asked and did mention it I think in the begining of the post or maybe not?

I really dont like doing this with a H100 as it dosent work well with top end heat at all, I just use it to set up for benching to get a feel for the CPU smile.gif but this is about all Im willing to do at this time.

So far at 20 Mins. and 7 runs in it looks like at this set up MAX temp on the HOT core is 77c the rest so far are 71c 71c and 73c just a FYI, will be back asap I'm done running out to get some DICE for later.

Yes thanks but I'm running a LINX for the Prime Linx ppl even though I rather not.

9 runs in no change!

off to store BRB

As i said I knew there would be ppl wanting prime and linx but not my game and thats ok by me in a bencher smile.gif bench stable!

Ok, if your strictly out for high clock speed suicide runs then I see your point. But for most people it's not stable if it can't run IBT and prime95 for extended periods.

IBT does add around 10c to a chips peak temps but Prime95 is actually pretty close to a real world workload on a cpu.

Now you say that "there is never a constant load on your cpu unless you run linx or prime.." but I must disagree as anyone who uses there computers to render, fold, or compile software will certainly use 100% for extended periods.

My three folding machines are at 100% 24/7 for example.

To me your oc isn't stable unless it can survive extended IBT and Prime but I understand you have a different goal here.

Nice performance none the less. Hopefully it's 24/7 stable.

I thought everyone pretty much stopped using IBT when SB was released and that Prime was the best way to test for stability, I could pass 25+ runs with IBT/Linx but would fail in prime, haven't bothered with IBT since and I'm sure my CPU would of thanked me for it tongue.gif

but yeah.. for a benching chip there is obviously no need for stability testing but for everyday use stability is a must for me and probably 90% of OCN. I disagree with your statement that benching is enough for testing stability ;x I could do many benchmark runs and then BSOD/lock up ingame a week later or something...
