On an absolutely stable system, Prime95 would run indefinitely. If an error occurs, at which point the stress test would terminate, this would indicate that the system may be unstable.

This is because Prime95 is designed to subject the CPU to an incredibly intense workload, and to halt when it encounters even one minor error, whereas most normal applications do not stress the CPU anywhere near as much, and will continue to operate unless they encounter a fatal error.

You're forgetting the next sentence. Prime95 is only good if you want to achieve 100% stability without getting slightest error.

Cut Him some slack! As FTW said, most benchers do not prime test. Myself, If I am benching, I do not care about stress tests!

Also, a user should consider what they will be using the most! How many times have I passed Prime and IBT tresting only to crash in games!

I do use IBT to give me my max temps on my 24/7 rigs! 25- 30 runs should do the trick!

Absolute stability, Does not exist!

Give me your stresstest proven system! I can BSOD in a couple of minutes at your given voltages and frequencies!

hey you can try to use SP1 and disable HT for running the whole power of that CPU for Linx

Just swapped out for some DICE with my 2700K sorry but will be more than happy to run some of the regular forum stuff after my benching is done.

Right now its ZOOM time never put the 2700 on anything more than SS dying to see if I can KILL it smile.gif

seems to be a mixed bag of OC work going on with this chip? now I'm wondering if I just lucked out with mine

I posted bios screens so I hope anyone with a Gig Z77 might try settings and post up. Will be going LN2 Thursday or Friday

This can be a symptom of instability on something other than the core of the chip. It could be that the VTT voltage is too low and is causing issues etc. P95 is a good test for core stability, but things like BF3, that fire up the PCI-e controller are going to stress other areas of the chip.

Sounds like you need to get the latest version of LinX or IBT with the AVX instructions. It will give you more stress as well as more throughput and since this is what everyone on Sandy uses, you'll see the increase you're expecting!
