Give it a rest with that 10-15% faster crap. That's a complete exhaggeration. This is OVERCLOCK.net not stock.net. The 7970 was underclocked very generously at launch, and easily surpasses the 680 when both are OC'd. Trust me I know... I have both. Three 7970s and Four 680s.

You must have magic GPUs. I have not seen cases of the 7970 "easily surpassing" the 680 at any point really. Even when both are overclocked. I don't understand why it's so hard for people to just say both cards perform very similarly. Arguing over 2-5fps when you're well above 60 is pointless.

Does anyone else think the HD7000 series going to be short lived?

I think Nvidia has the price/performance sewn up. I'm under the impression that Nvidia is purposefully playing this game with one hand tied behind it's back at the moment. It is sort of like a revisit of the 8800 GTX vs 2900XT situation where the 3000 series was released just six months later. The performance disparity isn't so great, but nvidia seems like it will be able to keep the pricing pressure where it is or even raise it.

Where Sea Islands is a late 2012 or early 2013 thing, it feels like needs to be more firmly a 2012 thing.

I still find it hard to believe we haven't seen the 7990 yet or even a whisper of it. Maybe AMD is just waiting for more mature drivers.
