So many of these comments are simply misinformed.

Demand outstripped supply, so they could charge whatever they wanted. Yes, demand outstripped supply, which means that production was affected... which makes sense when you take into account that the entire production facility for both companies was flooded with water and most workers lost their homes.

Prices are slowly reaching a healthy equilibrium again, but because there aren't many players in the market, they're in no rush to get to that point. Still, it's inevitable that prices are going to continue downwards until that point is reached again.

The only "gullible people" are people who believed that when production ramped up prices would instantly adjust.

This would make sense...
Mushkin's highest-end 120gb drives were only $100 today on newegg. Quite the steal.

Most of us knew it's all full of balloons. Too bad most of us went for SSD + an old HDD drive for storage.

In a report from earlier this year, we found out that Seagate even managed to increase its HDD shipments with around 2% when compared to the previous year. Where exactly was that “crisis?”

Not really. I'd like to see that report otherwise that's just another misconstrued fact.

I can see OCN is quick to buy into the word of a hasty article because of their hatred of corporations. Oh the hypocrisy. Do you people even think about these things?

They're supposed to be competing for our business, not forcing the market into a corner so we give them our business whether we like it or not.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. It's laughable, you buy right into the the conjecture of what is essentially an editorial and then parrot it amongst yourselves. Also, price fixing?

Yea, that's definitely price fixing right there.
