Was the date missing on the OP for the CC? Seems pretty important... (Its in zodacs sig link at least)
Well folks. I hope I can still contribute to the CC if I make it there at all. I upgraded to a Crosshair V Formula motherboard a couple weeks ago. I was 4.2GHz stable at 1.55vcore at 48C load on my old Asus M4A78T-E. With the new CHV I have been 4.1GHz stable at 1.4875vocre with 54C load. I am working on my temps but something else came up. I have been tweaking for my best 24/7 oc last few days and been answered with black screen/reboot while Priming. This was frustrating me cause no matter what I did I kept black screening. No blue screen or Prime failures. Just black screening. I had to retype all this as while I was writing the first post I was Priming on all stock settings and reboot in the middle of it. AGAIN! on STOCK! Now from my understanding blackscreen is a vcore issue. Either too much or not enough. I have another idea that is affecting me.

A year ago I had to RMA a dead power supply after folding for a long length of time. I thought this might have just been a bad PSU and that a replacement of the same one would solve this problem. Now for that year I have been doing minimal folding and trying to do my part but lately I have been folding 24/5 splitting the breaks equally through the week. Is it possible that this is another dying PSU problem due to excessive folding or is lack of vcore still the issue? Could it be my Phenom II is dieing due to the folding stress through the last couple years or is this a motherboard issue?

I know. I am not looking for psychics but I am hoping that there are a few folders that went through the same thing as I am and can share their experience and solutions. I am actually hoping that it is only a PSU issue and I just need one that is built to last longer. Looking for answers. Thanks.

PS The last couple days that I have been folding on linux mint my pc wouldn't reboot but the folding client would stall or lock up and I would have to restart the client. Don't know if this is related. Another note is the rebooting is only happening when I stress test on Windows 7. Hope this helps

Well I am using a lower quality TIM on my H80. I am going to order some Shin-Etsu G751 today and re-seat the water block on the cpu. I read a couple threads on that being the issue. I am also going to do some research on lapping the water block. I don't know that I would ever be brave enough to lap the cpu and it doesn't even look that bad. That would save me money on buying a new psu if I don't need one. I am just afraid I was stressing the psu too much because of 24/5 folding.

Not too early at all. smile.gif

zodac maybe we should add the fact that people can switch over as early as they'd like to the OP of each thread, as well as the start date to this thread.
