BF3: 1920x1080 4xAA vs 2560x1440 0xAA

Thread Starter
Basically I'm looking into picking up a 2560x1440 monitor. My 680 can max 1080 now but it wouldn't be able to on 1440. Basically would you guys rather have 1080 with 4xAA or 1440 with 0xAA?
You don't really need to go any higher than 1200p for monitors.. Why do you want 1440p?

Well, primarily because I love the size advantage, extra screen real estate , and I guess higher resolutions are never a bad thing are they?

Every time I look at a 27" iMac I'm in love...

I have a 27" asus 1200 and it is fantastic. Any higher and prices double.. That is why I didn't do it. I don't need the resolution any higher

I would personally choose the higher resolution with less AA- the screen space is worth the 1/2 pixel of edge improvement.

Higher resolution = lower FPS, lower graphics settings if you're having trouble keeping your FPS up.
I dunno maybe it's just me, I'd rather have the advantage of higher FPS and higher graphics on a 1080p monitor rather than having my GPU work harder on a 1440p monitor. and 23 inch monitor is big enough if you're sitting 3-4 feet away from your monitor.

I'd much rather have the 2560x1440 display. And at those settings it would still look much better than 1080p.

I would love to grab a 1440. holding ~60fps in BF3 is not an issue with a 7970/680 @ 1080. I would have no problem playing 40-50fps 0xAA on a 1440 instead. Being able to see that extra bit more makes a world of difference

You're not seeing any extra. Both resolutions are 16:9, so in game they are going to appear the same as the POV is the same. Visually, the 1440P will look better, especially since AA will matter less at that size of a resolution. If I had the choice between the two resolutions, I'd go for a 120hz 1080P 27inch.

If you really want something different, you should try multi-monitor. I personally didn't care for it as games ran like **** and it was buggy to get some games to work, but with better tech now (I had two 5870s at the time), more game support, and better drivers, it's a nice thing to try if you want something more immersing.
