The freaking OP said he wanted to use ONE CARD. NOT 4. So pay attention to freaking thread before you yap your jaw with useless banter on how you know everthing. Right now the 6990 is still the absolute fastest single graphics card that you can buy realistically from any vendor. The 690 is not out for sale yet and if it is I havent seen a single bench show it destry the 6990. When it does I will then say to the OP get a 690 if you want the fastest single card.
So please be quiet with your non OP's post reading self and interjecting useless opinions before you even know what the conversation is about.
Thanks
/fin w- you and now ...
OP - It might be worth waiting until Big K comes out. I am!

lol, testy aren't we? as for useless banter, you're the tool who responded to my suggestion that was very valid with "useless banter". And i'm big/bad/a know it all because i know 680's and 7970's are for sale? Man, OCN must be full of them

Regardless another useless comment, you're on roll. Can't wait for your heated response attempting to find the slightest flaw in what i've just said so you have something to be angry about. hope i punctuated correctly. Oh and here:

So Im trying to decide on waiting for one of those, Or finding a different/better card.
I WAS going to use only one card. but Im debating two. Im not 100% sure on overall performance that will give me. But Im looking for the biggest bang for my buck. Im thinking 700 is my limit. as thats the cost of the evga card.
And if you didnt notice Im using water cooling. So thats a factor.
Any advice?

The release of the 690 and 7990 are not going to impact the other video card pricing in the least, this statement is equal to saying that the new Bentley is being released so the Civic pricing is going to shift. The 690 and 7990 are extreme enthusiasts cards catering to a select and small group of people at the extremes of the market.
Good point. Ill have to wait and see. Ill probly buy the graphics card last

haha i didnt even know we had that emoticon, thats awesome.

Yea if you can wait for a 7990/690 that should be coming out relatively soon, id do that, although i think they will both be out of your $700 price range. I feel like both of those will come out over $1000, 690 being close to $1500 . 6990's were much more than the price of 2 6970s (~$300 upon release), and 2 7970's are $900 now, so yea.

If you're set one a single card, and a $700 budgets, then yes 6990/590 would be your best choice. If you can deal with 2, you might be able to snag a 6990 and 6970 for just around $700 on the marketplace. Def been seeing 6970's in the low $200's. GL
