Corsair Performance Pro or Crucial M4

Thread Starter
Hey guys, Im looking to get a new ssd and im pretty sure the corsair performance pro is the better drive but as of now its about 50 bucks more expensive. So Im asking which is better a 256 Crucial m4 for 248 dollars or a performance pro for 310 dollars. Thanks for the input.

Also could you guys tell me the kind of real world performance differences between the 2 drives.

Realistically, the Corsair Performance Pro will bench a little bit higher due to it's higher IOPS (65k instead of the Crucial M4's 50k). But in a real lift environment they'll both be so ludicrously fast that the extra dough isn't worth it.

Also, before you install on the M4, update the firmware.

But yes, I recommend the Crucial M4.. Especially at that price!

At nearly the same price point, the P Pro would be the one. But a $50 difference makes the M4 the better deal.

Up to you, the M4 is at a better price point, but if you like getting higher benches the PP is a beast lol

Both are nice, but get whichever is cheaper. SSD are hot selling cake right now in 2012 summer. Prices are dropping.

i agree with everyone...for a slight premium i would def. go for Corsair Performance Pro....but right now the Crucial M4 256gb is selling for like $220...unreal..if Corsair Performance Pro 256gb was like $30 more ($250)..i'd get it instead...but right now it seems to be $340 ($120 more). BIG DIFFERENCE.

I was able to get the Corsair Performance Pro 256g for $295...which I thought was an amazing deal. At the time, M4 256gb best price ever was like $280...this was like 2 days ago. lol. $220 now is a steal.

FYI - these $220-$230 deals for the M4 and the Sand Disk Extreme...don't last on the website too long...either they go out of stock...or the price increases to about $250 - $280.

Here are the 2 hot deals going on right now...both were $220-$230:

Sandisk Extreme 240gb for $220 (Sandforce): http://www.buy.com/prod/sandisk-extreme-240gb-2-5-sata-iii-solid-state-drive-ssd/227072805.html <- price increased to $270

Crucial M4 256gb ($220): http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=365476&SRCCODE=LINKSHARE&cm_mmc_o=-ddCjC1bELltzywCjC-d2CjCdwwp&AffiliateID=lw9MynSeamY-HBZKQXppSiaIPLDCi6SG_w (out of stock)

or

http://www.buy.com/prod/crucial-m4-256gb-2-5-sata-iii-solid-state-drive-ssd/221150375.html (out of stock)

Others..

M4 256 for $250: http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2-5-Inch-Solid-State-CT256M4SSD2/dp/tech-data/B004W2JL2A?t=slickdeals&tag=slickdeals <--lowest currently in stock.

Unfortuantely, it doesn't look like Plextor, Corsair, or Samsung are playing in this price war.
