Temperature/Voltage Question

Thread Starter
If my load temps on 1.65 vcore are only 38C, could it be said that I could bump it to 1.7, as long as my temps maintain under 50-55C? I realize there could be a factor of current running through the chip, and not just heat, so, again, I'm curious.

I wish I could bump it up maybe .1 at a time, but it goes straight from 1.65 to 1.7

If you need it for stability I say go for it As long as your temps are'nt high 1.7v probaly won't hurt. It all kind of depends on your stepping. I'm sure it won't hurt.

as long as u keep the voltage reasonable the only thing that can kill a cpu is the temps.. aside from the obvious..

high temps of 50C + will reduce the cpus life so beware.. but there are people that only want a cpu to work for a year then they will change it... so they run it 55-60C.. i normally dont let the temps go above 45 load.. usually 35 idle..
but this is with a case that has 200Cfm and an air HSF

I guess I'll take a try at it, gonna try and get to 2.9ghz on this venice....I'll duke it out and hopefully have some good results on Friday. Just found out that my build will have to hold off for another few months, due to the holiday season, and the whole court thing. So, Imma overclock this thing, or run it into the ground until I can get my new stuff........or.........justify getting new things early....

Just curious, whats the BIOS temp reported at?
Also, I'd check for any BIOS updates, those temps may not be getting reported accurately... seem a bit on the low side for the voltage/FHS factors, just MHO

beat me to it lol. try core temp because those temps are amazingly low at those volts. are you using the stock fan that came on the BT?
