After selling most of my sig rig and wanting to downgrade to an mATX, Air cooled PC with a lower power GPU, I now have two choices.
I can either go for:
Reason I chose those motherboards its because I want a black/red build.
Now, my gut it telling me to go Z77 because obviously the 3570k is 22nm, and a new generation/latest one, therefore more futureproof, but some people are telling me just to stick with Z68 and that Ivybridge is just a load of nonsense for no real benefit, bearing in mind Ivy will cost between £50 and £100 more depending on the CPU price when it's released tomorrow.
I'll be using 4GB of Dominator GT Hypers for RAM, if it makes any difference. (1600MHz @ 6-6-6-20).
What shall I do?
Now, onto my second issue of graphics. I did have a 5970, which was waaaaay overkill. Sure, it was cool, but a waste. All I play now is COD4 ProMod on my config which is mostly on low graphics anyway, Portal 1 & 2, and maybe some Batman: AA and Source Games (CSS/TF2). But, I want to be able to play upcoming games at a reasonable rate.
I don't want an old gen card, but a mid power new gen one, but I don't want to spend the earth, and it needs to be quiet. I'll be reusing my Gentle Typhoons from my old rig for CPU fan/Case fans, and I want the GPU to be as silent as possible too. And, just to make it a bit harder, I'd prefer red and black, or all black or all red.
Any suggestions?
