Will this work? 2xgtx 680 one with 2gb of ram 1 with 4gb?

Hey guys I have assembled the basis of THE BEAST in my sig and tweaked it to the limits but now its time to look at going 3xdisplay which has always been my intent now I am tempted to wait for the gtx690 eventual release and add that to my existing gtx680 as I only have 2x pcie 3.0 16x slots on my bigbang xpower2 and am going to upgrade to IB-E in a year of so to take full advantage of this. I am going to be gaming at 1080p 1900x1200 res and like to have everything maxed in lighting and settings. I'm hoping that if I picked up this that a full 6gb of ram will be able to be used?
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_1377&products_id=20122
and ran it with my initial gtx680 I will have the ability to do so at 60hz+ (at the moment my gpu usually only uses about 1.1gb of the available ram at max settings) as I dont want to drop to 3x pcie 3.0 x8 when I get the new cpu. also I need a good program to overclock my card and manage my SLI when setup. I want the settings to stay active when I reboot as I'm getting some amazing results using NVIDIA INPECTOR but have to redo each time I turn my pc on (had to manual assign 1.4 vaults on cpu to keep the speeds im getting and I hate large power bills otherwise would leave on 24/7) lol Some expert opinion would be extremely appreciated in these matters.

Thanks thumb.gif

when you SLI tou dont add up the Vram, the memory is spread out across the 2 cards, so only 2GB will only actually be available. Even though one is a 4GB model it will only be able 2GB of Vram available.

that sucks is anyone running 2xgtx680's at the moment and able to clarify whether their getting the performance I'm seeking?
all the reviews are always 1x or 4x gtx680 havent seen anything where their putting dual setup through its paces.

Cheers

ya, the ram won't add up it will take the lowest amount. 2gb ram is what you'll have with that setup..

also i could be wrong but the gtx 690 is coming with 2 gb ram per GPU(4 total)

so if your planning on going more vram and upgrading to the 690 your ram will be at 2 gb

Cards that are paired go by the lowest denominator(weakest).

the gtx690 should theoretically from my understanding be recognized as 2xcards so my computer would the treat it like a 3xsli setup with a total of 6gb ram and extra processing power compared to the other option I'm discussing which I feel would be more then ample for monitor setup I'm suggesting. Pleas correct me if I'm wrong guys as it will be a very costly mistake to make lol

no, the ram doesnt add up.. you wont have 6 gb usable ram with a 2gb 680 and a 4gb 690. you will have 2 gb
a 4gb 680 and a 4 gb 690 means 2 gb ram as well..
^ that and you can't SLI a 680 and 690.
