Your heatsink reseat made a big difference, what paste application method did you use? I think I'm going to go with the drop/lump method.

My 3770K barely stays up at 4.5GHz with 1.25v.. we must have the best and worst chips so far.

They actually don't change in Linx/IBT when HT is on or off. The temps only change in Prime95 with HT on or off.
I believe the difference is 5-10C in Prime95. I can confirm when I get back home.

I have mine at home right now running custom Prime95 with 14Gb of ram (4.5Ghz @ 1.2v).
When I left for work this morning it had been running for just under 12 hours.

If you can imagine the chip with the yellow triangle in the bottom corner, then the die would be in the middle, rectangle going top to bottom.
I put 2 very thin lines going from top to bottom on either side of the longest side of the rectangle..

I'm really bad at explaining.. I'll try my paint skills lol.

I believe the first time I made the lines way too thick. Too much paste = heat!

I am EXTREMELY confused here. How are you getting 125-130 Gflops in Linx when I am @ 4.4ghz and only pulling 61.5 Gflops. What is going here here as there is a MASSIVE discrepancy. Also, my temps are reasonably higher than yours on my Noctua and was wondering If I should reapply my thermal paste like you did. I am thinking my old method of using a bag and spreading the thinnest possible layer with my finger is no good...

Good results btw! thumb.gif

EDIT: Just a quick run around the block @ 4.5ghz and thinking maybe my temps should be better? Also this shows the Gflops difference:

yeah, like other says, do you have sp1? and did you set it to test in max, that is to use up all the ram available? the Glops difference for my sb btw standard and max tests is over 30Gflops.

I have SP1 installed (Windows 7 Service Pack 1) and no I am not using my max memory. I guess if the Gflops goes up with memory then that would make sense although I thought it was supposed to be an indicator of your processor's power and not how much RAM you use in a test., so I guess I am still confused.

I am just running 20 tests with 4096MB @ 4500mhz 1.2v right now and am pulling ~65 Gflops. Will post results if it passes.

My ambient room temp is pretty low and I'm thinking should I reseat my my heatsink with a different thermal paste application method or just not worry that I don't go over 80C in Linx which probably means I won't go over 70c in anything else as all i do that uses my CPU very much is game and my gaming temps have always been much lower than my Linx temps.

Although like I said my ambient temps are pretty low atm and will probably rise 15-20C during the next few months.

service pack 1 for windows 7 it updates the linx thingy or something so that it out puts more gflops.... Someone with more windows knowledge can elaborate but yea thats the gist of it i think.
Small wonder.
