After reading up on iRacing, it's definitely not for me. I realized it's a subscription based service and you need a steering wheel, which I don't have. I'll wait for some confirmation on CARS multiplayer and then see if that fits my style more.

Any racing sim is going to require at least a basic steering wheel if you hope to be any good at all.

Are there any of the builds that don't require a membership to get an idea of whether it works with my wheel and how it runs on my rig?

I don't mind paying for a membership if it all works and I like it, I just feel I've already made too many impulse buys smile.gif

I take it that this requires always online?

Cheers

pCars will definately be more controller friendly, but I would strongly suggest a wheel tbh. Not because it will be necessary, but the overall experience will be so much better.

There aren't any that you can get for free, but the cheapest is really quite cheap but its up to you if you think its worth it or not.

Looking at your rig, you shouldn't have any problems at all, considering mine runs it quite well.

What wheel do you have though? They support pretty much all worth mentioning tbh. (hope that last line doesn't turn out to be offensive tongue.gif )

Yeah, I guess I can fork over the 15 euro to give it a try, it does look very impressive. I hope they will be able to make it all the way to a proper release.

My wheel isn't anything special, it's a Logitech momo something, mid range, but playing racing sims without a wheel isn't much fun at all smile.gif

Approx how many tracks, cars etc. are available at this stage?

Cheers

OK, I caved in, it's actually only 10 euro to get started.

Hope it all works and will provide at least some hours of joy smile.gif

Installing now... will report back later

Its made by the same people who made the NFS:Shift series (they are now independent of EA) so I don't doubt they know how to make a game and they've amassed around 1.2M Euros already according to their crowd funding meter and it doesn't look like slowing down much tbh.

Anything logitech is likely to be supported.

As far as cars/tracks are concerned:

I'm pretty hella good actually with a keyboard and even better with a controller since I'm been using a keyboard since NR2003. I would have gotten a wheel sometime but they are just so damn expensive. I really am not spending $100 on a peripheral I'm going to use in one or maybe two games.

Also, what are meetings and track days that I'm seeing in the tools and perks section of the purchase page for CARS? Also is CARS going to be subscription based or is new content, such as new cars and tracks going to be pay when they are released?

Been following the builds, but still saving up for a Full Membership. That could take a little while. Just bought myself a new G27 and a new bucket seat. So far, been busy rebuilding my sim cockpit to accommodate the upgrades. Game looks incredible so far! biggrin.gif
