All mouse produce variable polling rate readings. I had never seen that software of yours but with mousetest tool I always get shifting rates but with noticeable lower variance. Try mousetest too see if your software is exacerbating the polling rate variability.
Are you on a PC or a Notebook ? Of course try different usb ports and stuff.

Windows XP does not like some newer hardware, thus those spikes.

I had the same with my IME 3.0, once i installed win 7, it went rock stable on 500hz, as i set it to.

@ZareliMan, that software is very well known because its bundled with Mark C accelfix.

Faulty mobo/usb port probably. Check your mobo/usb drivers for possible updates. If there is anything else connected to your usb? If so try to plug mice alone.

It has nothing to do with XP.

There you go: IME 3.0@ 500 Hz , Win XP SP3.
Like inox said, google for eventual problems with your mb/chipset. If nothing else works buy one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-USB-Hi-Speed-5-Port-Card/dp/B000K7UN82/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1335698187&sr=8-8

Got the same problem on my G400, 800 DPI @ 1000 HZ, on Windows XP:

500 HZ:

Funnily enough though the mouse feels pretty slick in the FPS games that I play. Is the fluctuating polling rate a big problem?
