Definitely will be. Even if it's just Vavle games at first which it likely will be, unless the other publishers have been working on Linux ports without saying anything.

They have plans to port the entire source engine....I am not really a fan of any games on the source engine, but I am happy because now other developers will look to port their games to linux too biggrin.gif

Yeah. It'll be slow to start but after Steam shows what kind of money publishers can make from Linux users then it'll be insentive to either port or at the very least start making native clients for newer games.

I saw this in the news section and I can say I'm more than excited. The day Steam works well on Linux is the day I leave windows most likely for good.

It's a step in the right direction that's for sure. If Steam succeeds, we will hopefully be seeing major titles for Linux in the near future.

Well...considering they've been working on it for 2 years...yes that's right...Valve has spent officially two years at the least on just the client. I'm not expecting things to progress much within the next 5 years even after they finally have source up and running. It will be nice for me though as I pretty much only have time for short little things like L4D, DoD, and the rest. I'd love to see something by the end of this year but I'm not holding my breath. Even though they hit up the guy on Phoronix for suggestions on people who would like to help, I'm expecting 2013 at the earliest.

You mean the Phoronix articles? All I can remember from those articles is something about beer and lederhosen.
