hey all, i have recently built a new rig (should be in my sig) and went for 3 x 24" monitors, i have them set up fine with my 7970 however have noticed screen tearing in diablo 3, not checked other games yet and was wondering about getting 2 680s or a 690 instead, either that or wait till newer ones are released next year or do 680s etc still screen tear?

I could not wait any longer and I ordered the Koolance block yesterday. The 690 is sitting in my test bench (with a very old Q9650) since I got it. I need to get this card into my main rig ASAP. I would have prefered the look of an EK but since I saw their new CSQ design, that I dont really like, I settled for the Koolance. The block should be here by monday.

Are you serious? Backplate would be a bad idea for this card as hot air is trapped between PCB and backplate. This results in higher temp.

On the contrary. I've had a back plate on the 580 for over a year and one on a current 680 and it didn't raise or lower temps. I tested specs both times.

It's purely aesthetic and protection only.

I had this case for a good while and it was such a joy. Everyone that saw my computer called it "The Tank" because they loved the beefy looks of it. I found the case to be very easy to work with...
