They have horrible input lag and response time according to reviews. Very cheap monitors. I was going to get them too for the tiny bezel and piece of mind but the monitors themselves are sub-par apparently.
I've ordered 3x Dell U2412M monitors. Which seem to be tied with the ASUS PA246Q as the best IPS monitor for gaming. The Dells with the plastic front bezel removed have around 10-15mm of bezel which is really low and are 1200P so are good for portrait which is how I'll be using mine. You just have to take the time to remove the plastic covers and remount the stands.
Anyways I'll start a thread about it when I get them this week because it seems a lot of people at the moment are interested in IPS 1200P monitors for surround set-ups.

U2412M has been my alternate choice. IPS display and 16x10 which I hear is better for portrait mode anyway. Are you going to use the stands they come on or invest in a single stand? I was thinking about a single arm mount or the Ergotron LX. I saw this setup on [H]

They are about $295 on ebay with free shipping. Did you find a better deal?

I got x1 from Dell direct with a $120/30% off deal (for $270) and x2 off ebay for $299 with free shipping, so similar prices.

I'm going to use the stands they come with, don't like the look of any tripple monitor stands I've found so far and I'll be sitting them as low as they go because (my desk has a rasied shelf for the monitors and) to my knowledge the included stand will get them lower than an aftermarket tripple monitor stand.

1200p gives you half an inch less height and 3 inches extra width in portrait mode, plus bezels. So that's why I went 1200p over 1080p, figured I'd enjoy wider dimensions.

With the plastic case removed you can get the bezels down from the size of x2 16mm to the size of just one, x1 16mm. So hopefully it's enough that it doesn't bother me.

Because a 5-10fps difference with a surround set-up is a big difference. It can be the difference between lows in the 50s to never dropping below 60fps in games like battlefield 3 because when you're dropping $1000s on GPUs and monitors it's important things perform.
There is a reason the GTX 690 is the only native PCIe 3.0 card nvidia has and that's because it can actually use the increased bandwidth of 3.0. The GTX 680 doesn't need it unless used in tri-quad SLI set-ups on boards which become choked by such set-ups. ie PCIe 2.0 x8-x8-x8-x8.
If I'm able to I'll do some benchmarks with my surround set-up when it finally comes this week I will because it'll be interesting to see how much of a difference it can make for future reference and people's piece of mind.

For 3x monitor surround yeah it will. But the person I responded to wasn't asking for multi monitor setup.

You might want to think about the VRAM as well, although there aren't any other 690 models that sport more of it. Much why a couple nVidia users on this forum are waiting to defect to the 7990.

EDIT: NM it was on a previous post tongue.gif

Hello all. I am new to the forum and a GTX 690 quad SLI owner. I see lots of talk about PCI-E 3.0 Did any of you catch this article from Hardocp?

Yeap. That's the one I'm talking about. Their test is stupid and irrelevant.

Got my monitor and it's great (other two come tomorrow) but when I rotate the image into portrait mode through nvidia control panel the image goes slightly blurry and text no longer looks crisp. Really unsure why.

Got the card last week, and I have just finished new build this afternoon. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

For those interested, just got word from EVGA as of yesterday the back plates for the GTX 690 have been shipped to EVGA. They approximate them to be on sale at EVGA.com within a week. smile.gif

I know it's just aesthetics but it ties everything in nicely as well as some added protection for $999 GPU. Someday I'm handing this card down and it'll still be in great condition.

It's the last piece to complete my computer build until next year when I can afford a huge capacity SSD. thumb.gif

PS - Nice build Nanoscale.
