nV is making the cards, but they're only selling them to EVGA and Asus, not their other partners. Thus, all 690's will either say EVGA or Asus on the box.

Those two companies then do the distribution (i.e. those two brands send them to the retailers they normally use) so the cards could be sold anywhere that normally carries Asus or Evga products.

Basically those two scored the exclusive rights to brand and distribute all the 690's in North America, probably because they are the top two Evga partners in terms of sales and extent of distribution networks in N. America would be my guess thumb.gif

BTW, I'm coveting one of these things ... can't afford it but bjv DOES WANT!!!

So... technically it should be there at the store for pick up tomorrow.
Well... hopefully.

Glad to see NCIX isn't behaving as dastardly as Newegg for pricing on this. Grats on being able to score one.

I'm surprised MSI is not on that list.

MSI has had an oddly low profile compared to the others. You see vids and reps from EVGA and especially ASUS all the time. Most of MSI news I get from here, TH, HOCP or HCanucks.

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-690/specifications

why only one dual link dvi-d?
normal for dual gpu cards to have only one dual link dvi-d?
wouldn't this matter at higher resolutions?

so are all the 690's for now gonna look like... well reference?
i like everything except for that nasty green nvidia decided to go with this gen

Yeah ... I DO, don't I?

But ... I also *SOOO* want to go see The Wall on the 15th and the tix I want are $300/pair. No way I can do both, not this month anyways.

Maybe I'll just show up at your door to drool over your 690 when you get it wink.gif

Also, the other thing I read is that Nvidia is not allowing partners to change the reference design. That means that all GTX 690s for the foreseeable future (maybe ever) will have the distinctive housing and unique overall design. Makes sense, considering Nvidia is manufacturing all of these right now, and it's actually not a bad move on their part...personally, I think i'm going to rock mine on air for a while, and if it ends up staying cool, I may never spring for a waterblock. smile.gif
