Yeah I think w/a decent OC on the CPU and 690 + turning off AA, I'm hoping to sit much closer to 100fps on average to meet the refresh rate of the catleap. I'm really not that far off right now...

Lucky that you have the 2B version. My catleap almost died when i tried to take it to 65hz.

When I select Use All Displays in the nVidia control panel my 690 is taken out of SLi. Now, the card is really a waste and just playing on 1 680 and the other 680 as PhysX.
The only option to keep it in SLi is to do Surround or use 1 monitor.
Am I going about this wrong or is there another option?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like your drivers.

I've had similar problems with new drivers and had to rollback. You should be able to activate surround with all three monitors with all connected via DVI no dramas. Always.

In another thread however someone mentioned that AA is not only for eleminating jaggies but also do something with lighting? If so I still dont notice the difference much.

I play all my games without AA of any kind including FXAA. I never see the benefit. I mean I see it but its not worth such a performance drop.

Also with AA, my vram usage hits over 2200 in BF3 multi. YOu Might turn it off to have Vram below 2000

You have a 670 and you play all your games w/o AA? Ok then, my 5770crossfire got 60fps in bf3 w/o aa and a 670 is probably 3x stronger than that.

How can people say AA is barely noticeable at 1440p? Especially in BF3 I definitely notice when it's on or off and I'm at 1600p...

I was talking about 1440p gaming. With 4xMSAA at times the game would drop to 30 fps when the battle is heated.

690s also are handling that game great but I wonder if the Vram cap would create issues. At one scenario I saw my Vram usage in BF3 spiking to 2350.

Honestly we have been debating this over at 1440p+ Gaming Club and most users also believe the same thing. I mean YES there is a difference between no AA and 2xMSAA, but the difference is not worth the extra performance drop and in 1440p gaming you need roughylu 30-40% more GPU power.

I also notice the difference in BF3, but its not vast in my opinion.

I've been playing Mafia 2, Dirt 2 and BF3 lately and I am perfectly fine witout AA.

But 2xMSaa vs 4xMSaa i see no difference but thats just me.

(sorry for going out of topic btw guys. I know this is the 690 thread :)

690 is perfect for 1440p/1600p, anything more and the vram limits it. But the 690 can run any game maxed with 4xmsaa and achieve 60+fps, different story ofc for the 670, there is no point in AA if you are getting below 60fps, that should probably be your first goal. 2Gb vram is fine for 1440p with msaa, probably not crazy ssaa and sgssaa, but that isn't very optimized. You can see the AA though imo, got to look for it sometimes but if does improve the overall picture. Anyway, there isn't much to talk about other than Nvidia failing to give the 690 proper vram and bus width...

I wish selling a Dual core GPU was easy in Turkey, than I would go for an 690 perhaps.

I always like dual GPU cards, but it was a nightmare to sell my 590 last year. Lost tons of money on it and barely sold it.

This was the only reason I stayed with single core GPUs this generation and probably next generations as well.

For me the Dual GPU cards have always been a technological marvel.

but again i like their horsepower and how much framerate they produce at the end, especially at 1440p. I have yet to see someone unhappy with a 690 in 1440p so far. I wonder if there will be a 695 with more vram in the future?
