You could be right, as I don't know anything about the HD8000. All I am sharing is what I read in some rag about the "technology predictions for 2013" for the 700s. So, please take what I said just for speculative value..

Either ways already purchased two off of amazon.

Well, I should clarify, I did a terrible job at explaining it. The classified cards have much higher potential to be better overclockers than the ftw cards. For obvious reasons like cooling, better power phases, more control, etc.

But, the ftw cards are tiered, and the classifieds are not. And by tiered, I mean the ftw cards come in different flavors of over clocks because of different levels of stability. You could get a ftw+ card that goes FAR beyond the stock clocks of a classified because of it being a stable card, while the standard ftw, and ftw LE cards are less stable.

The classifieds aren't cherry picked. All the classifieds are made and sold as is for their stock clock speeds, there aren't any tiers to the classifieds. You could get a dud, one that barely reaches 1200MHz, or one that reaches 1500MHz. Their range of variations is greater than that of a ftw+

CPU's are made and sold in this same fashion. Some are "born" stronger than others, so they label them differently and sell them for more. thumb.gif

In short, your odds of getting classified card that won't OC as well as a ftw+ is low, but I didn't wanna risk it. But that wasn't the reason I didn't get classifieds. I didn't want hot air from my gpu's circulating in my case because of the split exhaust design on the classifieds. It's the reason I like blower style cards. Nearly all the air is immediately kicked outside the case. And the classifieds ruin that for me. biggrin.gif

Also, this should be the last time I mention 680s in a 690 forum. rolleyes.gif

Just installed a h100, this thing is like running ice on the CPU holy crap. Also keeps the 690 cooler because the overall case temp is lowered.
Feelsgoodman, idling at like 35c.

Edit; this CPU has always run way too hot like something is wrong with it, before at this same OC idling at like 50, gaming took it to ~75.
Prime 95 now can't take it over 60, which for me is amazing.

Edit 2: and now hovering at around 40c with a 4.5GHz oc

I dont think a single 780 when it arrives will beat a 690 anyhow.
OK, need some of your opinions guys. I currently have gigabyte 660 Ti OC version in SLI. I love them and have no problems at all. It does everything I want and need. But I was offered a brand new sealed gtx 690 for half price. Any reason why I should jump on this? How will warranty work as he does not have receipt. How much of a difference will I see and feel? Waste of money for me? Or buy and resale? Good lord, what should I do? I do want to mention, not having the best does make me always want me to upgrade from my 660 Tis. I'm constantly looking for a cheap upgrade.

If it works, buy it. 690 is more powerful than two 660s and only occupies one PCIE slot, uses less electricity, creates less heat, uses less CPU or PCIE bandwidth. I have a GTX 690 and I can play every game at max settings at 2560x1440 and maintain 60 fps. If that's overkill for your needs, then resell it. I'm tempted to buy it if you don't (and I already have one). thumb.gif

Well first you would be getting better performance then the 2 660ti in SLI because the 690 is 2 680 in sli! and second HELL ya if your getting at half price there would be no reason not too. you could always resell at that price and make money back no problem. you could even sell you 660's and maybe get close to getting gtx690 at little to no cost if cards are played right. If not I would be interested in this deal haha even though people say not to go quad on gtx690 at half price I would do it for ***** and giggles.
