Reminder: GTX 690 Review LIVE Tomorrow @ 9AM EST / 6AM PST

This is a friendly reminder to our readers that the launch time for the GTX 690 IS NOT the typical midnight affair we’re used to.

As was discussed in our original preview, we will be publishing our review tomorrow morning @ 9AM EST / 6AM PST, to coincide with NVIDIA’s official GTX 690 launch timeframe.

Join us here at that time for a FULL, in-depth review of the planet’s fastest graphics card. We’ll even be throwing in a few additional tests, outside of our traditional testing regime.

I'm guessing the NDA ends at 9AM??

Dammit...just when I thought I would get to sleep in after 5 AM on a weekday because I have to commute to a client's location tomorrow, I now have to wake up at 6 AM just to try to snipe a 690...FFS NVIDIA, *** KIND OF LAUNCH TIMEFRAME IS THIS?!?! 6 AM PST?!?! mad.gif

Oh! Lord have mercy! When will my wallet take a break! drool.gif

The only thing I'd be worried about are those poly*** windows showing all the dust gathered up in the heat sinks. Otherwise, this is a true trophy card that is bound to be OOS at online stores til they stop production. Much like the 590's were. thumb.gif

This card is awesome, simply put. Looks stunning, and I'm sure will perform that way too. I just can't wrap my head around paying $1k for a 2gb gk104 =/

If this were 4gb, it would make more sense. I'll stick to the 680 for now. thumb.gif Do let me know how much you guys enjoy it when you get it!

A rep at microcenter was trying to woo me to buying one...I lol'd and walked away.

A rep at microcenter was trying to woo me to buying one...I lol'd and walked away.

The GTX 690 will excel at providing buttery smooth, constant-60-80FPS, vsync on, for pretty much every game out right now, at completely maxed out settings including at least 4xAA + 16xAF @ 1440/1600p resolutions.

Where the card might hit the VRAM wall are with 3D and/or surround/tri-monitor setups at extremely high resolutions, where AA or other settings may have to be toned down to achieve that 60 FPS. Or, 120 FPS constant on a couple of FPS games with everything cranked up (BF3, for example).

The main benchmark right now would be BF3, which is kind of an exception to the rule as far as VRAM usage is concerned, as it will pre-load textures and utilize as much VRAM as available, regardless of amount...so upping the VRAM here wouldn't necessarily help framerates. SLI GTX 680 2GBs can max out BF3 between 60-80FPS constant @ Ultra w/ 4xAA and 16xAF @ 1440/1600p with absolutely no problems, and the GTX 690 will be able to achieve the same. There really isn't another game as graphically intensive while at the same time being VRAM-intensive like BF3 is, so it's safe to say that the 690 is going to be able to handle 99.9% of what's out there at very high resolutions just fine.
